girl this might actually sound dumb but i've been deadass wracking my brain tryna remember why jacks actually wanted to go back in time?? like he tells eva the donatella lie in abona but he's been wanting the stones since the first book. he was deffo warming up to her in the first one but i don't think he was head over heels in love & knew that she was in danger from him (other than the obvious kissing thing).

did he ever mention what he was going to do in reality w the stones, like what moment he was actually going to go back to? i swear he does but i just cannot remember for the life of me

i dont remember exactly either but i think he just wanted to go back in time to start over with everyone like not to a specific moment with tella but just to start over and also to PREVENT eva from ever meeting him i think that was his true intention but i think he just wanted a second chance and to start over i dont think he ever wanted to go back cause of loving her because he didnt really love her he was just obsessed with her and also go to protect eva in his eyes at the same time

Why do you think did Jacks go to the Valory Arch? Chaos mentioned that he would just bring the stones to Jacks once the Arch is opened, but Jacks went there which is why he witnessed Eva's death. Perhaps he was going to say goodbye to her at the last minute? 🤔

i was wondering about this too, i think jacks might've changed his mind/wanted to check on her?? because he did come back and it was a bit odd to me. it's sad that he got back at like the worst time though 😭 but i think he could've been coming back to apologize for getting so mad at eva? but that's a stretch because it is jacks we're talking about here and he's only apologized like twice in the series 😭😭

i definitely think it's interesting that he just showed up, i'd have to read the scene again to think of some more stuff. sorry i couldn't answer better!!!

no because it wouldn't make sense for the narrative. considering how predictable it would be and how this is the end of the serious it would be a bit odd to do that. there's no actual good purpose or reason for jacks to die.🤷‍♀️

i'm honestly not that good at making theories but it probably won't happen but don't take my word for it

Don't you think it's weird that Chaos tells Evangeline that she's a bit like Jacks's first fox as if implying there wasn't only one? I think it's strange he said "his first fox" instead of just saying "the fox".

i think it's because there are a lot of keys that look like eva, and i'm sure jacks has known a lot of them. i think he says "the first fox" because jacks was the first archer from what it seemed like because he was the archer from the ballad of the archer and the fox, so his like first love or true love or whatever it was that he killed, was the first fox if jacks was the first archer.

and i also think it was mentioned once that every love jacks has is just another fox basically???

i'm sorry if this is confusing 😅 i didn't know how to explain that well but i think chaos just meant that it was jacks's first love/the original fox.

if you could pick one character in the Stephanie Garber books to switch rolls with who would you choose?

see here's the thing, if you picked jacks you would go through a lot of pain obviously, if you picked eva you would go through even more pain BUT they would be the most fun characters to be in place of too. but i think the safest would be (in caraval too):

legend (because like not that much happens to him from what i remember and bro has magic like come on), castor/chaos (he seemed pretty safe throughout the books and he literally has an entire army of vampires), lala (the one downside is her curse but like come on what happens to her? literally nothing),

one of those tiny little dragons (self explanatory), and maybe MAYBE luc because all he really had happen was turning into a vampire and getting attacked by wolves and turned to stone soo 🧌 and that's medium trauma for these books.

(but if i had to pick the most fun character to trade places with it would be jacks >:) )
