🎄 Day 10 of Christmas project 🎄

The clock swinging above the kitchen doorway struck noon, the credits of the series you were watching pulling out of your daydream. Sangyeon's family members were bustling about in the kitchen, hearing your boyfriend tease his aunt and mother to make them laugh. You had offered your help as soon as you got out of bed, but you got kicked out of the kitchen by force, without being able to argue. The mother had categorically refused to let her stepchildren work, so Sangyeon's sister's boyfriend had gone outside to cut some logs under his stepfather's orders. You heard your boyfriend withdraw from the kitchen before stepping out. He took the hallway that led directly to the living room, where you looked without much interest at the Netflix home screen.

"Tired, my love?" he asked, and you looked up at him, immediately returning his smile. You quietly bit your lower lip as Sangyeon's appearance and smile made your heart flutter. He exuded the "husband material" as many of your friends said, and you couldn’t disagree. The members of his group treated him like their dad, making you instantly a mother figure to the boys as you started dating their leader. He put the piece of cloth he had over his shoulder on the edge of the sofa, slowly walking towards you as you straighten up from your lying position. Planting himself in front of you, he bowed his head until he was at your level, making you rise to your knees to meet him halfway. He circled your waist and nibbled on your lower lip before capturing your mouth in a light kiss.

"You're sending me mixed signals, love," you breathed in a giggle, Sangyeon pulling a strand of hair behind your ear. “I’m just checking to see if you still love me,” he teased you with a mischievous smile plastered on his lips. You rolled your eyes, shaking your head from side to side. He might have been a father figure to his group, but then with you, he would metamorphose into a kid. “But of course, as if I would give you up for someone else,” you glanced at him sideways before returning your attention to the screen a few feet away from you, ignoring your boyfriend who burst out of laughter. “Okay, I'm going back to help my parents,” he said before kissing your forehead and picking up the laundry that had fallen on a pillow before returning to the kitchen.

The next few minutes after your man returned to the kitchen passed in utter stillness, the steady, heavy sounds of the axe cutting wood in the garden filling the silence, which was becoming heavy. A bedroom door opened upstairs, small footsteps trotted down the stairs, Sangyeon's nephew's tiny head appearing in your field of vision.

"Ah, Beomseok!" you chanted as the little boy entered the living room, holding his plush toy against his little body. He looked like he'd done something wrong, so you waved your hand, grabbing his attention. "Auntie~" the little one walked around the sofas to come and sit next to you, resting his plush toy on your lap. You looked down at him, his eyes shying away from yours. "You want to tell me what's wrong?" you asked in a soft voice, trying to give him confidence, and particularly to know if he had hurt himself. He swallowed hard but looked at you anyway, his eyes filled with guilt. "I-I forgot to do my homework," his voice was so faint that you could hardly hear what he was saying. “Ah… do you need Mommy or Daddy's help?” you questioned him, and his eyes glossy with tears stared into yours, his pleading gaze almost making you pout. “No, they don't know,” you nodded and lifted him, hugging the little boy.

"You're going to go do homework with Aunty, what do you say?" you gently tickled his stomach to make him smile, which worked. He squirmed like a maggot in your arms, and you walked upstairs, seating him at the foot of the bed. "Did you take everything you needed to do your homework?" He nodded and crawled over to the suitcase, pulling out a blue notebook and a pen hanging by the lid on the cover. "It's maths," he handed you his things, and you open the notebook. You noticed easy calculations for you, but with all the wisdom of his five years, it must all seem complicated.

Beomseok was a smart little boy but needed reassuring and encouraging words to give the best of himself. With one last smile, you lowered the number of fingers he told you to do and clapped when he found the answer.

“Well done, buddy,” you congratulated him, and the door opened, you and Beomseok turning around immediately. Sangyeon smiled from ear to ear as he saw you looking after his nephew, the latter having the reflex of hiding his homework behind him. "What are you doing?" he asked, and you looked at him with eyes filled with innocence. “We're having fun,” Sangyeon tilted his head slightly and looked at his nephew with sceptical eyes. "Okay... Now for real, what are you doing? ” “I helped Beomseok with his maths homework, which he hid from his parents,” you confessed, and Sangyeon chuckled, sending a mischievous smile to the little boy who had now stood up, trying to hide behind you.

“We let you into the secret. Promise us you won't say anything to anyone," you put your index finger over your mouth to make your boyfriend remain quiet, and he nodded as if he had just been told some state secrets. Beomseok seemed reassured to have his uncle and aunt on his side, feeling protected if his parents ever found out he didn’t do hos homework. He rushed out of the room when he smelt the good aroma coming from the kitchen, leaving you alone with your boyfriend in the guest room.

“I didn't know you were this good with kids,” he sat down on the edge of the bed, shoving you gently in the ribs with his foot. You shook your head and grabbed his shin quickly, preventing him from making any movement. You raised an eyebrow and smiled, sitting up with a laugh at the serious look plastered on your man's face. Placing your hand on his forehead to check if he was hot, your action made him chuckle. “What are you doing to me, now? Did you catch the baby fever?" you joked but immediately stopped when Sangyeon didn't bat an eye, still looking at you with his intense gaze as he gently stroking both of your forearms. “I was just imagining you as a mom, and I think... I think I could get used to the sight,” you were speechless at what he had just said to you, feeling your cheeks reddening at his remarks. “Okay, come on, we're not gonna do it now anyway. Let's go back down,” you pulled your boyfriend out of bed to get him up, satisfied to have you all red and mushy with just a sentence. "But you don't seem to be against the idea though," he teasingly whispered in your ear, and you gently slapped his forearm that had come to encircle your waist. “We'll talk about that when we'll get home,” you said, postponing the problem, trying to calm your boyfriend down as he was a little too eager for your liking.

Once you were back in the living room, the whole family was gathered, except Beomseok and his father, who you could hear in the lobby.

“Ah, there they are,” Sangyeon's mom cheered, the little boy moving around as best he could as he was bundled up in his ski suit. “Go ahead, ask them,” his dad told him with a smile, encouraging the small boy to come closer to you. “Do you want to build a snowman with me?” He shyly asked while playing with his mittens, staring at the floor. You looked at your boyfriend who was already looking at you with a smile on his lips. Realising the choice was yours, you immediately nodded, making the small child happy and clap his hands. “Come on buddy!" Sangyeon rushed to his nephew, hugged him and stormed out into the garden, under the surprised gaze of his sister's boyfriend. Beomseok was laughing out loud, making the rest of the family laugh, the noise coming from the house vanishing as you closed the front door behind you.

You watch your boyfriend and his nephew playing around in the snow, sitting on the dry porch, your elbows resting on your knees as your hands supported your face. After running for a little while in the snow in the garden, Sangyeon grabbed Beomseok and whispered something in his ear as he looked at you, his nephew looking up at you with a little smile. Sensing that you were going to be sandwiched by the two boys, you prepared yourself to be headfirst in the snow, tackled by your boyfriend. And that’s exactly what happened. Beomseok's job was to tickle your ribs, your weak point, while your boyfriend grabbed your waist to carry you over his shoulder.

“Honey, stop!” you screamed while laughing as you wrapped your legs around his waist, holding yourself back with all your strength as he leaned towards the ground, your back brushing the snow by a few inches. The little boy was laughing heartily, clapping his hands and giggling harder as your boyfriend let go of you. Landing with a thud, the compact snow attenuating your fall, you looked up at the two laughing boys in front of you. “I'll get you for that!” you whispered to Sangyeon, who childishly stuck out his tongue at you. “Beomseok, look! Imitate Auntie, she's making a snow angel with her body," he completely ignored you, and you moved your arms and legs at his words, before standing up to show off your art to the little boy. Your boyfriend brushed the snow off your jacket and kissed the temple, receiving a playful slap on the arm. "Well! Shall we do it, this snowman?” you said, and Beomseok rose to his feet, falling back on his knees a bit further in the garden, starting to collect snow to make the base.

The rest of the family watched you from the large living room window, touched by the situation and the love you and Sangyeon had for his nephew. They all looked at each other with a knowing look, but only the son-in-law dared to say out loud what everyone else was thinking.

"I think we'll have some good news in a few months, don't you think?" Sangyeon's parents burst out laughing, and so did the sister, hugging her husband while tenderly looking at him. "Only one?" The father retorted, raised his hand and tapped his ring finger, increasing the laughter among the family members.

↬ a/n: if you really must know, that drink order is what i always get at a local bubble tea store! there’s a lot of time skips in this story but all the events are occuring in chronological order! hope you like it!!

Sunwoo shook his head, “If only they could see.” Chanhee propped his head on his hand, repeating what Sunwoo said, “If only they could see. Our entire friend group can see. And her friend group too.” Changmin smacked his forehead when both you and Sangyeon looked at the three of them, a befuddled expression visible on your faces. “Nevermind you two.” Changmin nodded his head, patting both you and Sangyeon on your foreheads.

“Can I get a green milk tea with black pearls. 50% sugar. And less ice please!” Sangyeon rattled off a drink order he memorized by heart. The staff at the bubble tea shop ringed the cashier and handed Sangyeon his receipt. Jacob grinned, “This order sounds way too familiar.” Sangyeon nudged Jacob, but the smile on his face was a clear give away. Sangyeon was planning to give it to you after the one hour free period, excited to see you.

“Come on let’s get going.”

Sangyeon’s eyes lit up when he saw you standing outside, waving at him to get his attention. “I’m just a by-stander but this is so cute.” “She doesn’t like me back, I swear.” Sangyeon held up a hand and Hyunjae swatted, “You’re just deceiving yourself.” Sangyeon gave him a look, “She’s probably into Juyeon. Or Kevin.” Younghoon shook his head, trailing behind Sangyeon as he grabbed the bubble tea he got for you.

Heart fluttering, he smiled when he saw you beaming at him. “Hey you..” Sangyeon knew you’d stop by because his classroom was on the way to the laboratories and your first class on Wednesday was Chemistry. “Hi Sangyeon oppa. And Younghoon oppa.” You rummaged in your bag and handed him back his personal notes, “I finished going through them already! Thank you so much!” Sangyeon took it back from you and reached out to pat your head, “Then you’d ace your geography test for sure!”

You gave him a thumbs up, giggling as you did. “Oh. And this is for you!” Sangyeon held out the drink he bought earlier. “You didn’t have too!” You cupped your hands around the slightly cool drink and Sangyeon thought you couldn’t look any cuter. “Hey hyungs!” Juhaknyeon swung an arm around yours, taking you aback. “Our teacher is coming up! I saw her coming out of the staff room a block away.”

“Then...I’ll get going! See you!” Sangyeon’s smile was reaching his eyes as he waved. For good measure, Sangyeon reached out and patted your head, “See you for tutoring on Friday!” You shook the bubble tea, “I’ll enjoy this drink! Bye bye!” Sangyeon gazed as Juhakyeon easily put his arm around your shoulder. Younghoon stepped in front of him, walking beside him as “You are so whipped.” “Yeah but Juhaknyeon…”

“She does that to all of her close friends. If you’re feeling jealous then you need to up your game. Trust me.” ‘Ah...but what if—” Younghoon put his finger on his lips, leading Sangyeon back into the classroom, “You need to confess at the rate you’re twiddling your fingers.”

“She likes you.” Jacob confirmed. “Huh?” “Hyung, she likes you.” Eric repeated. “Kids, it’s only February. If you wanna pull a prank don’t do it.” “That isn’t the point here.” Younghoon pointed out. Sangyeon let that information sink in, “S-She likes me?” “Yeah. She told me.” Juhaknyeon affirmed. “And now what should you do with that information?” Hyunjae gestured, circling his wrist while looking at the others. “Confess.” Kevin and Juyeon suggested.

“But wouldn’t she be mad that you told me?” Sangyeon asked. “I mean, we’re getting off topic.” Juhaknyeon held up his hands. “Yeah we are. Knowing her shy personality, you got to step up.” Chanhee nodded his head. “If she gives up because she’s shy, I’m going to flip tables.” Changmin stood up. “So all you need to do is to confess to ease that inner conflict, you know?” Sunwoo tapped the side of his head.

“So I should—” “Yes! Just do it!”

Sangyeon pursed his lips, formulating an answer and penning it down at the same time. Pausing to take a swig of water, he made eye contact with you and you immediately looked back down. “Why, do you need help?” He noticed that you’ve been doing it pretty often for the past few study sessions and realised how true his friends' words are.

“Ah...nothing. It’s nothing.” You shook your head. He gazed at you, then eyes darting down to the time shown on his watch, “Should we take a break?” “No! It’s okay I was just distracted.” You sheepishly grinned and Sangyeon lightly flicked your forehead, causing you to pout, “Okay, okay! I’ll focus!” Sangyeon retracted his hands and propped his head on his open palm, moving the plate of hand-made cookies towards you, “Have some more. I put effort into this.” You hummed, taking one. Happily munching on the cookie Sangyeon made, said person glanced at you lovingly before returning his attention to his revision papers.

“I need to tell you something. Can you meet me at the school courtyard after your classes?” Sangyeon hoped his hands weren’t sweaty. “O-Okay sure.” He let go of his grasp on you and you scurried off to your class. “Nice one. We’ve got your back!” Juyeon gave a thumbs up before catching up to you. “Don’t think too much. Be your usual self.” Hyunjae massaged his back.

“Oppa! What do you need to tell me?” Sangyeon spun around as you skipped towards him. “I see the way you look at me when you think I’m not looking.” Sangyeon watched as your eyes widened, confirming everything his friends told him. “I...I.” You searched for words and couldn’t find any. “All these mixed signals. I wish you would tell me what you felt. Because my feelings for you...I love you." Sangyeon finally got to the end of his script. Now everything was going to be improvised. Did you still love him? What if you lost interest in him? And also...

His thoughts stopped short when you pulled on his necktie to kiss him. To Sangyeon, it felt as if his entire being was on fire, his brain short-circuited and on the inside he was screaming. His hands immediately flew to your waist to steady you. When you pulled away, Sangyeon noticed how red your face was. You quickly buried your face into his chest, “I love you too.”

“So we’re official now, hm?”

“Yes.”
