For those who are old enough to remember, King T’Chaka of Wakanda has had a temper. A strong, resilient ruler, he is an unrelenting stickler to tradition, it being instilled in his son since he’d been old enough to comprehend (and will later do the same to his daughter when she is born).

It’s currently years prior when T’Chaka still ruled; when aforementioned prince, T’Challa, hits the cusp of his tenth year of life, he unintentionally impedes closely-held tradition. All it takes is a simple interaction:  He’d been out with his parents and surrounded by their Dora Milaje on an outing into the city, and while searching the newest technical toys for one to beg to his mother, he’s approached by a young girl who comments about the toys he’s holding.

“I got that one last month. It’s one of my favorites,” she lifts a shoulder and smiles politely.

Young T’Challa hadn’t thought anything about it at the time and for much longer into the future—he hadn’t known any better anyway—he didn’t mean anything by it as he follows up with a question asking what makes the toy so good.

Surrounded by her Dora, Ramonda watches as the children hit it off immediately—which is good, she thinks; her son could use more friends considering those he has live a good way away from the palace. Ramonda speaks with the guardians of the girl and they set up a playdate.

It’s found out that the girl is named Nakia. She’s from the Water Tribe. Age eleven. Hates the color grey and her favorite animal is the Menelik’s bushbuck. She takes ring blade lessons and wants to become a humanitarian when she grows up. She tells corny jokes and is a morning person and already stands a good two inches taller than T’Challa.

And, by age eighteen, he’s utterly, downright smitten with her.

One of her favorite “cheats” from her trading schedule is swimming. She admires rhinos, hates cold weather, and her favorite color is the soft, darkened shade of crimson red. Like Cape primrose. Like the breasts of birds. Like what she dyes her kinky afro, it ablaze under the golden sun and stealing his breath.

could I open my inbox up for prompts to the reincarnation/soulmate au for marvel? I really need to get in the groove of writing a wide range of characters. is this something anyone is open to?

I'm open to the request for: either "three sentence fics" or "short fic prompts." for any human character? for any of the planned pairings or unlisted ones mentioned in the series. I will start working on them asap and post them tomorrow

T'Challa/Nakia + Coffee

Vacationing in a foreign country always comes with three mandatory factors: that the Wakandan king and queen have guards posted within six feet of them at all times; that the queen have her morning breakfast of the local cuisine in the sunlight, preferably on a balcony but under an umbrella out in front is well too; that the king must make some quip or joke or else he will implode.

During this particular outing, Nakia is glowing under the golden sun, large-rimmed sunhat and glasses making passerby slow to stare, mistaking her for a local model, and she has her small porcelain cup of espresso to her lips when T’Challa leans over the table and says, “Don’t be alarmed but there is a group of bees that have been flying behind you for the past three minutes.”

Nakia chokes on her coffee in such an undignified manner that her husband erupts in deep laughter then excuses, “I was joking,” before drawing the table’s second chair close to her and adds in Nakia’s ear, “Now that you’ve relaxed…”
