My Band (The Meeting)
You have to love this digital age we live in, people can communicate with long lost friends, we can buy anything we need at a moment's notice and hardly ever have to worry about stuff being out of stock. However, there is the other side to all of this, I, for instance, was 80% sure that instead of "Check Your Status", I was going to meet a 45 year old German man who would pick me up and proceed to tear off my wiener and flambé it for dessert. So we picked a public meeting place, a pizza shop near PPU called "R 'n B's". I look back at my first impressions of the guys and laugh. There was Mark, Tall dude, short hair, fitted cap with a large "P" on it... first impression, this kid was a wanna be gangster in a punk rock group...nice. Then there was Jay, the first thing I noticed about Jay was his voice, It was really high pitched and distinct from the monotone you normally hear walking the streets of the world. His attire seemed more fitting of the genre. There was Dylan (who wasn't actually in the band) who seemed very happy and I thought he was brother, possibly a twin, of the last person at the meeting, Zack. To be honest, I didn't know what to think of Zack at first, he was quiet, seemed to kind be huddled into himself. As the meeting went on I got to know the guys a little bit better. Jay was clearly the most outgoing person in the group with Dylan running a close second. Zack and Mark talked a good amount but still seemed kinda shy. This meeting was the birth of a huge obsession of the band, buffalo chicken pizza at R 'n B's.
My Band (The Intro)
So I guess the first thing I will post about will be about the band I'm in "The Countdown Starts Now", how we found each other, what we aspire to do, and why we do it. This will be a series so no one has to read 4 pages of blog when they get on ; )
It all started about two years back when I started school at Point Park University. I was fresh out of high school starting my music career by studying Musical Theatre. As the first semester went on I found myself in need of something that exercised my more music minded muscles in my brain and body, So I decided to check Craigslist. It wasn't long before I came across a little garage band in McKeesport, PA looking for a singer, Their name..."Check Your Status". I responded to their post near the beginning of winter break and when I got a response saying they would like me to come in and "audition", the rest of winter break was the longest and least remembered three weeks of my life. Somehow I made it through the rest of break and finally my wait was over. An endless amount of things were spinning around my head. I had heard some really bad demo's of their music(which was good) but I wondered at the time how good they actually were and if maybe I was wasting my time. I liked their name a lot but was also kind of intimidated by some of their pictures, to be frank, some of them looked like straight up douchebags, however, I later found out that I was correct, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
