Okay so TCWM chapter 16...
Rhys sighed and leaned back into the pillow. “I was worried earlier. Before this. I couldn’t remember the last time we spoke.”
“It was on the sixth.”
“Did I do something?”
“Yeah,” Jack said tightly. “You did.”
“I don’t understand.” Rhys squeezed his eyes closed again as he attempted to think back through the pain. “I don’t understand why you’re here then. I can’t remember the conversation, and I know that’s on me, but—”
“That part isn’t important.”
“Then what is?”
“I—” Jack started to speak. Then his jaw locked, and he didn’t say anything else.
There was a long silence.
“You’re not well enough to have this talk,” he said.
What was the conversation? I desperatley want to know what rhys said that made jack not want to talk to him because he was already feeling super touchy about rhys after the new years party!!!!
Like Jack says, the last time they spoke/the conversation itself isn’t really important & it’s never covered. It’s more what Jack is feeling about Rhys in general that was the issue & he finally realized it. That is covered in CH17, or at least, it was intended to be implied with their convo…
The Feels were setting in at the New Year’s party. That’s why Jack was being Weird™️ for even him, if that makes sense. Like Rhys was there, but they’re rivals/enemies. How it played out was not what Jack really wanted even if he didn’t know what he really wanted & then Patrick was pissing him off. So in a sense Jack & Rhys are mirroring one another through that area. Both want more than what they have with the other, but both reacted & “handled it” differently, causing the problems in a lowkey history repeats itself sort of way— until they Talk.
