I really wonder if we would've gotten more info on Bernard's parents if TD: R hadn't been canceled. With how Bern's mom was going to send Bear a message after the dinner date comic I wouldve enjoyed a story where Bern's Dad is doing something sus / some kind of criminal activity. And at some point Bear's Mom gets smart and actually tells him off for it. And it ends with Bear's Mom and him trying to be there for each other after handling whatever Bern's Dad was doing

I honestly would have went FERAL over this. To tease at Bear's relationship with his parents and ROB US of that was absolutely vile and I sob into my pillow over it every single night.

Mr. Dowd as a villain is something I really really need to see now bc imo the way be acts is very.... Sus. To me. Like ofc he is blatantly a HUGE a-hole but there's also about him that seems deeply manipulative, specially.

Like, for example:

I've noticed that in most of the panels of them together, Dowd seems to be mimicking his wife's expressions, looking disapproving when she's so, glaring when she does, defensive when she is. In the fourth panel, he copies her saddened and remorseful expression, even when we soon learn know darn well that he couldn't care less for Bernard.

Mr. Dowd seems like the kind of guy who doesn't let his true emotions show, with the way his eyes are always hiding being his glasses, and the way that he seems blank– arms crossed and posture stiff. The only active expressions he makes I suspect to not even be his own, not really. In fact, the only time we see his true feelings is when he finally snaps at Bernard. Where his eyes are finally showing.

And what a sight it is. Sigh. If I had a dime for every emotionally constipated/abusive father in media.... I'd finally have enough to buy all of DC and force them to give me the content I want.

So yes, a man like this? In Gotham? Not to say that manipulative and likely narcissistic men are villains, but like. C'mon. He's right there. Use him, DC.

And Mrs. Dowd! Looking at those first four panels, one might assume that she's the one calling the shots, but she is stuck!! Literally shown to be seemingly unable to leave the guy.

So yeah!! Let her bitchslap him, tear him down, and reconciliate with Bernard! As the fates intend 😔😔😔.
