"Knowledge is power" and so is hope.

Much of this book is about these two overarching themes.

The story is set in the future in the northern part of the Scandinavian Union (controlled by the state of New Qian), and water is the most precious and sought-after commodity. Noria Kaitio, the seventeen-year-old protagonist of the novel, is studying to become tea master in order to carry on the vocation of her father, but with this role comes great responsibility.

I really enjoyed this book but it often left me wanting more: more narrative, more character development, and more information about context.

I do look forward to reading any future books by this author, as well as rereading this one. If you enjoy dystopian novels, you will most certainly like this book.
