One of my students, who is deaf, pointed out to me that one of the video lectures doesn't have captions. I'm also arranging to meet with them with an interpreter to go over the course material. what this is teaching me is to include ALT text for all of my images now! it's not a lot of work and it can make so many people feel much more included

I recently started working as a art teacher assistant with kids from the 1st grade to 5th and gen alpha can be hilarious

I put on Minecraft ambient music as a background for my 1st graders to draw to and I heard a kid swear up and down that Herobrine exists in real life and that NASA has him held hostage for some reason, like he swears he has photo evidence and his friends were all genuinely believing him while I was fighting for my life trying not to laugh

I asked them at the orientation workshop for my substitute company about whether I should write my pronouns on the board and they had no problem with it. Whew 😮‍💨

"The first new feature of my pedagogy of care is a formalized 12-hour grace period for every course activity and every formal, graded assignment. This allows for the technical problems that constantly emerge and it tells students not to worry if they are a few minutes or several hours late because of children, work, or whatever.

Another change I am finding successful is substantial use of sign-up sheets. Students select their due date — multiple due dates are available almost every week of the semester — for projects that ask them to present and analyze important objects, current events, or primary sources, all also of their choice.

I started a new job guys! I was able to get my foot in the door of a local elementary school as a caregiver watching teachers children ages 0-2 years old.. im working on my degree in early childhood education so I am super excited to have any opportunities working with the children.. I already love my students so much, they are little sweethearts! 🤩
