The bright yellow and red tinted light brightened the dark area. Bluine walked towards it only to find himself surrounded by a ring of flame. Every direction he sees nothing but a wall of a fiery blaze that he can't surpass. he can hear the screams of a man and women as he got down onto his knees, covering his ears, wanting it to stop as he's engulfed by the flames.
He gasped loudly, waking up suddenly. Sitting upright, he scanned the room he's in only noticing that it was mostly empty. He got out of the sleeping bag he was in, rubbing his face with his palms. "Hey!" Someone screamed out, looking up to see Emmey peeking out of the doorway. "Come on! We're heading into the forest today! Hurry to the locker room!" She yelled, leaving only to leave him alone. He sighed heavily, getting up and headed where he needed to be.
When he finally got there and began to change into his clothing from yesterday, when he arrived at beacon, he overhears some conversations. Most of it is usually the girls gossiping with each other and some planning out on there teams first hand. He got his weapon out of the locker, sitting on the bench that was in the locker room, checking at the magazine if it had some ammunition. Paying attention to only his weapon, he sees two legs, then quickly looking up only to see a large, mostly armored person. "Name." A deep voice spilled out. The male's hair stuck out in the air, as if the guy overused the hair gel. "Bluine... Ombra?" He timidly replied, placing his weapon next to him. "I don't like you, Ombra. Never did back at Signal. You're nothing special, but a lonesome waste. Yet, people treated you as a god just because you're the son of the parents that died in a fire! You should've died along with them." The boy only gave a smirk, towering down Bluine.
He stayed silent, looking down at the boy's boots which look hideous. 'Treated like a god?' He thought to himself, 'I don't remember anything like that back at Signal.' "I hope you're with a team that will be no help to you." The boy snarled, leaving him be. Silence seemed to have consumed him whole, the world around him muted, the sounds he could hear was his breathing and beats coming from his heart. It was all broken when he heard an excited, high pitched voice. Before he could get back to reality, he was immediately on the floor from a pounce by Emmey. "Blu! It's good to see you! You look really nice in this coat, by the way." She says happily, getting pulled out by Nadeni from behind. "Alright, you didn't need to go that extreme, Em." She says, Bluine groaning in pain as he quickly got up, patting down his clothes to get any dust or dirt off. "It's good to see you, too, Emmey. Though I didn't expect that kind of... greeting." He said nervously, "What do you want?"
"We just want to wish you good luck when we all hit the forest! Maybe we'll meet each other there and find one more team mate!" She says, obviously a bit giddy about it. "Don't worry about her. She's just overly excited to be able to 'fly'" Nadeni butt into the conversation, poking at the weird rectangular machine behind Emmey. "What is that contraption?" Bluine asked. Emmey's eyes beamed in happiness, turning around to show him her machine that's wrapped around her waist. "I call it a Cable Shooter. Shoots out some cables with steel rod spikes at the end and wherever it makes contact with it stays there, letting me get momentum when the pulleys inside rapidly pulls back the cables. I'm also able to swing myself high in the air if I wanted to!" He raised a brow, noticed some goggles that's on her head. "Which explains the goggles?" He pointed out. She cried out happily, "Yes!"
"Well, thanks for the encouragement. The same goes for you two." He says politely. Both girls waved goodbye to him; he went back to check on the magazine of his weapon, good amount of bullets in the clip. He could only smile, placing it back into his weapon.
Couple of minutes later, all the students are standing on each spring pad near a cliff. Bluine has never seen such a thing like this. Next to him on the left from where he was standing is Alissa, the first person she met during the assembly. He quickly looked at her, noticing that her weapon was a bow and her quiver is wrapped around her left thigh. Odd to him, but quickly turned back to look at Professor Ozpin and Professor Goodwitch. "Good morning everyone. As you may know, you are all heading out into the Emerald forest. Now be aware that the forest is inhabited by the monsters of Grimm, so be self aware of your surroundings." She says, letting Ozpin to handle the rest of speech. "While you are all out there, you will all be in teams of four. Know this that whoever you'll team up, will be your team mate for years to come. That choice on who your team mate will be is to you all only. The objective today is to retrieve some relics in an altar that lies within the forest. Hopefully you all planned out your landing strategy. Good luck to you all and hopefully that you all come back alive." He sipped on his coffee and the sounds of the pads already began, watching each student fly in the air at incredible speed.
One by one they are all launched into the air and towards the forest. Emmey puts her goggles on, launched to the air while Nadeni came up behind her, doing a silly super hero pose while in mid air. Alissa quickly looked over at Bluine, who then looked back at her, only to receive a wink as she was launched, then him right after.
He planned on landing onto the tree with a stab of his sword part of his weapon. Flying through the air, he takes out weapon which resembles a gun, a blade springing out underneath the barrel of his weapon. He spots a tree right in front of him as he feels like he's descending. Holding out Shadow Waker in front of him, the blade and tree connected, stopping him. He looks down underneath him, seeing the ground as he descended down, cutting the tree in half towards the middle. Landing on the ground, he pulled the blade out of the tree as it retracts back to its small sheath. He quickly scanned at the area he was in, then begin to run towards the altar. At least the direction he supposedly know where its at.
Meanwhile, Alissa is standing on a branch of a tree, then quickly jumping to another with a high jump then to another and another. Already she could see an Ursa in full view. Staying quiet as possible, she pulled an arrow from her quiver, cocking the string and aimed down to the precise angle. Her fingers let go and the arrow hits right at the eye which blasts the Ursa back with an explosion of lightning. A grin slowly appeared on her face as she continued her trek through the forest.
A couple of minutes later, she sees Bluine running, already taking the assumption that he's heading to the altar to get the relics, only to see a Death Stalker charging towards him using her semblance. "Crap!" she whispered under her breath, quickly jumping to another branch to catch up. Bluine quickly stopped, feeling the rumbling underneath his feet then sees the Death Stalker popping in from the bushes. He aims down his weapon firing at it which leaves no dent on it. The pincers snapped viciously as it gets close, the blade part of his weapon sprung up as he prepares himself, standing in a samurai-like battle stance, both hands holding onto the 'hilt' of his weapon.
The Death Stalker lifted one of its pincers in the air only to get an arrow shot right on it. The arrow quickly bursts with electricity, causing the Death Stalker to thrash about. Bluine stood there, confused, but takes the chance for attack. Jumping to the air, he aims the blade right at its stinger, plummeting down to it, cutting the stinger right off. It let out a loud screech, a screech loud enough to make one wince for a couple of seconds before they could recuperate. Bluine did a spin which then cuts off the Death Stalker's pincers, it nearly making itself tall until Bluine held the hilt of his weapon with both hands, stabbing onto the abdomen of the Death Stalker. It let out its final screech until it was finally silenced and motionless. He breathes heavily, looking over at the Death Stalker's body, poking it slightly with the blade of his weapon. Alissa grinned after watching the whole fight, jumping down to the ground and walked up to him.
"You're pretty good handling yourself, Ombra." She complimented, her grin growing more. Bluine jumped a little from her voice, glancing at her. "Thanks... I guess. Good couple of days of training." He says timidly, getting a pat on his shoulder. "Let's head to the altar. I'll keep up with you up on the trees, alright?" He quickly nods, the bladed part of his springs back in and turns back to the direction he was running to. She looks over at him for a couple of minutes, detaching her bow is half, still keeping the string attached to each other, tossing it up on a tree branch, and grappled onto the canopy. She held each half of her bow as if they were handguns and begin to catch up to Bluine, jumping from tree to tree in a quick manner.
While she jumped from tree to tree, she heard an explosion, then some screaming and giggling of joy. She stopped and looked around with her semblance. she then spotted both Emmey and Nadeni flying through the forest while Nadeni was firing off her weapon to give momentum for her. "What the...?" She exclaimed to herself, "Jeez those girls are crazy."
Nadeni pointed her weapon behind her, firing off her weapon, leaving a huge explosion as she flies from the shock wave of the explosion. Emmey flies through the forest, her cables getting attached to the trees, grappling her until her cables are detached from the trees, giving her more momentum to soar through Emerald Forest. She finally caught up to Bluine, her arms open and pounced onto him, who was waiting near the altar. He let out a yelp and falls onto the ground. "Bluine!!! I'm here for you! Don't you were worry!" She screamed excitedly. "E-Emmey... it's great to see you... but we got a big problem." He says through groans of pain and pointed at the altar. There were pedestals holding a small relic of a feather. Five different kinds such as gold, bronze, silver, platinum, and emerald. "Oh... You do got a point there." She says, quickly getting off of him and looked over at all the relics.
Bluine quickly got up onto his feet, an explosion set off as Nadeni finally made to where Bluine and Emmey are, and then Alissa, who caught up. "Can you be a little subtle with that weapon of yours?" She quickly yelled out at Nadeni who only shrugged. She sighed heavily, then glances at the relics. "I'm guessing these are the relics." She pointed out, picking up the emerald feather. "...Get the emerald feathers, then we have to get back to the cliff." He says, until he hears howling from the distance. "Uh... I think those are Beowolves... That was your fault, Nadeni! You pretty much led a pack of Beowolves to our location!" She yelled out. "Hey! I'm trying to have some-" "No! there is nothing fun about this! We're all risking our lives to become hunters! Huntresses!" Emmey only looks at them, taking off her goggles and letting them hang around her neck. Bluine's expression quickly changed as the two girls bicker at each other, he raised up his weapon in the air, pulling the trigger and let out a warning shot. Both quickly stopped arguing at each other, looking over at Bluine. "Listen, instead of arguing with each other, how about we get the relics I ask and get out of here. I don't care who did what, we'll fight our way out if we work together! All three of you get the emerald feather. Alissa, once you're done, head up to the trees so you can hold off the Beowolves for a while. Since we saw a Death Stalker, their might be more around the area we're in and might be heading here as well so that means Nadeni will hold them off." He ordered out. "Hey, whatever me and Blooming Moon can do, will do." She smirked, quickly grabbing a relic and getting ready. "Emmey, you and I will stay on the ground and if the Beowolves get through, we'll be taking them on until there's no more. got it?" "Got it!" She quickly says. He nods, heading to position while Emmey and Alissa both grabbed a relic, then headed to there spots.
Alissa jumped up to the trees, getting a head start, soon seeing the large pack of Beowolves charging through the forest. "That's a lot of them." She whispers to herself, drawing back the string from the bow with a ice Dust filled arrow loaded. Releasing the string, the arrow shoots out and hits at one of the legs from a Beowolf, bursting out in explosive fog, soon clearing up to find the Beowolves legs stuck from the ice, unable to move. She gives a grin, drawing another arrow and shooting another, hitting the Beowolves in a fiery explosion. Soon after, she hears some faster trampling, then seeing a couple of Ursas stampeding towards the temple. "Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!" She yells out, drawing another arrow and shooting, another and shoot, another, shoot, but only managed a small majority. "I wasn't quick enough!" She separated her bow in half, quickly jumping from branch to branch to catch up.
Back at the temple, Emmey and Bluine both stood still, waiting as they hear the echos of explosions from the distance. Bluine had both of his hands on the hilt of his weapon, prepared to what will happen. Already, he can hear the screeching of Death Stalkers and explosions right after, knowing that Nadeni is already encountering them first hand. Soon, the Ursa stampede came in full force Bluine did not expect the Ursas to be heading towards his and Emmey's position. Instinctively, he let the blade retract back as he aims at the Ursas, firing at them with his weapon while Emmey used her Cable Shooter to swing onto the trees, taking them on the back side with her sword.
Bluine quickly finished the first mag, switching to a different mag that is implemented with Dust. He reloads his weapon and begin shooting at the Ursas again, this time a burst of frost explode on contact, stopping the Ursas on their tracks as Emmey swings by and slices each the Ursas head. She carefully landed on the ground. He lunges backwards, almost stumbling, but kept his balance as he went to help Nadeni with the Death Stalker. He lets his sword spring back out while he uses his semblance, time stopping as he cuts off the pincers of the Death Stalkers with diagonal strikes. Soon enough, his semblance stopped, but quickly did not notice the stinger aiming for him. Looking up with wide eyes, he quickly closed and prepared for the end.
He then hears its screeches, opening his eyes to see it's stinger caught in sword whip. "Get out of there if you want to live, stupido!" A voice yelled out, and he instinctively followed the order, moving away and landed on the ground as the sword whips tightens and cuts off the stinger. The Death Stalker screeched and hissed loudly, thrashing itself around until a hooded figure jumps in front and stabs the face of the Death Stalker. Bluine panted and looked over at the damage done to the creature. The stranger quickly takes out her sword, slowly turning to him and walked to him out, giving a hand. He grabbed her hand and she pulled him up. He could not see her eyes, they were covered by an odd visor. "Um... thanks for the help." He said, receiving no answer from the hooded stranger as she walks over to the relics and grabbed a bronze feather. She glanced back him, grinning and soon ran off into the forest.
"That was... odd." He muttered to himself. Soon Emmey swung by him and landed safely. "Who was that girl? She looked very creepy and... ominous." She questioned and he could only shrug to her question. Finally, Nadeni and Alissa. joined the rest of them. "Alright! I think we all did alright with that. Besides that random girl cutting in. I could've handled the big Death Stalker." Nadeni said. Bluine could only roll his eyes. "I'm sure you can... though we should be thankful that she offered to help us. Either way, let's head back to the cliff with the relics we all got." All three agreed, following Bluine back up to the cliffs.
Couple of hours passed and soon the four of them were on stage in front of many others. There are couple of groups that are on stage, possibly more than what Bluine expected. His eyes wander around the crowds, around the groups of four that are on stage, Professor Ozpin giving the teams that everyone will be with, and giving out the leaders of each team. He then sees the hooded girl along with the the person that tried to insult him. 'Why of all people is she with a guy like him?' He thought, and noticed a grin coming from her. He blinked several times to be sure he wasn't seeing things. He barely paid attention to the speech Ozpin is giving, but until his group was called out, he perked up and stood still in a formal manner, his heart beating. "... the leader of the group, who all retrieved the Emerald Feather relics, is Bluine Ombra. And they shall be known as team BANE." With utmost surprised, Bluine's eyes widened. "Me... leader?" He whispered to himself. He looked over at the other three, Alissa, Nadeni, and Emmey were all giving smiles to him knowing that they rely on him now to lead them. He looked back into the crowd and he could've sworn that he saw his parents amongst the many people, smiling at him. He held onto the pendant of the necklace, ready for what's ahead of him, and possibly ready to find the person responsible for killing his parents.
