While we're on the subject of pre episode 28 intraparty apologies, three cheers to one of my favorite early M9 scenes, the Beau/Caleb coached apology, which includes the highlights of:

- *Guest PC suspicicion (haaaa)

- An in character argument dicey enough that it got its own fandom name (Bowlgate was really something)

- Socially inept monk taking socializing lessons from a half orc (who happens to be using a fake accent and is bluffing So Hard All The Time, but its fine don't worry about it). She's learning how to people!!! Its going- okay. Its going okay. Shes doing her best!

- Socially inept wizard just so full of guilt and trauma, taking social cues from Extremely Awkward And Introverted Barbarian, who is ALSO full of guilt and trauma. They bonded while she shaved him with her sword. They both look up to each other for socializing tips.

- The scene itself being an overwhelmingly awkward apology in which said monk struggles out a (very sincere) apology to the wizard, they stare at each other for forty seconds, monk keeps asking the half orc if they're doing fine or not. In lieu of a verbal answer the wizard pulls the monk into the most awkward hug known to man. It lasts way too long. "I don't know what I'm doing, just go with it."

- Both the wizard and the monk looking over their shoulders at their respective teachers on How To Hug

- Both teachers pantomiming proper hug procedures for their pupils

- They're not doing great but they're doing their best.

- Everyone else in the party politely applauds when they release

- This includes the kenku child the party is carting around with them at the time.

- "Welcome to the Mighty Nein!" indeed.

- Ah, I miss them.

So I got this lovely anon, and answered it, and Tumblr ate my post, as it tends to do occasionally :( Anyway, this ask gave me so many feels, thank you anon ❤️ I have been told before that I don't speak often, but when I do it's something worth listening to. Not that I don't also spout nonsense, but I'm not a believer in verbalising every thought in my head, and will never talk just for the sake of talking. Jyn being an introvert, or at least someone with a very quiet nature, is one of the reasons I adore her. It's so rare to see traits like this - and ones I recognise in myself - represented accurately in film, especially in a leading lady in an action movie. I'm so glad they changed from the original character idea, because she would have been so cliched and irritating as the hard as nails, smart mouthed soldier. Throughout Rogue One, Jyn is shown in quiet contemplation, speaking only when necessary. And she doesn't have to change herself to make friends, find love, or inspire an army - she gets to just be herself and be accepted, which generally isn't how it works for us quiet types in real life. TL;DR, I love Jyn Erso, she is my murder daughter, quiet people are cool.

Eternally enchanted by Caleb turning into various animals and being treated like a strangely shaped beloved pet by the rest of the M9. This feeling is further intensified when he is something like a huge spider and Yasha is scritching him under his chin and cooing about how shes going to eat him.

I appear to be primarily generating shitposts tonight, but I would just like to say that both:

Ashley discussing how Yasha spent so long serving other people and has only now started to try to figure out what she wants, and be willing to ask for it. Being willing to define who she is and the sort of things she wants to chase, on her own terms.

and

Liam talking about how Rexxentrum is so complicated for Caleb because he had so many good experiences there too, that were cut through with the trauma and tragedy, and how those experiences and memories are comprised of so much happiness and so much loss. And why showing the Nein both sides of it, and working to preserve the good that he remembers, is so important to him.

really just get me. They’re both such poignant insights into the characters that are fighting hard to reclaim themselves and grow from devastating experiences. They both ring so true, both in game and IRL, and I’m glad Liam and Ashley are taking the time and care to explore these details.

Caleb: “I can relate to that.”

“Sometimes its hard to see yourself, but that is what we have friends for, I am told.”

“I don’t think I can convince myself, but I can maybe convince you. You’ve been doing good for this group, and good for you. You have worth and value. And promise of something.”

“Yasha... let yourself a little happiness. Even if it’s helping other people.”

“I’m trying. I think it’s working.”

“...Hey.” *Yasha pulls Caleb in for a hug*

For a second I thought Caleb was trying to give Yasha a shovel talk for Beau, but instead we got Team Introvert quietly bonding over recovery and forgiveness and a soft check in and I’m soft.
