"The gods do love their little broken things" Sonja closed her eyes tighter taking a deep breath suppressing a shiver as the wispy tendrils of darkness brushed against her neck. As the many layered voice sang and whispered into her ear simultaneously, in a horrific mixture of the scrapping of metal, pained screaming, the gentle waves of the ocean, the soft voice of a mother, and the tender voice of a lover. She could feel true endlessness in it. "You, that friend of yours" it chuckles and an invasive thought of Jericho laying bloodied and beaten after his morning blade training as a child. His wounds knitting shut infant of her eyes. She whinces but immediately steadied herself. Or maybe the proud undead. This time images of a child growing happily surrounded by family, each second a new frame, a new time. She watched him age and slowly lose everyone he loved. "The king of the nether surely treasures that one." The voice says with its unnerving laugh. "Leave me by monster" Sonja calls out her voice steady and strong even with the way her heart ached for her friends. "You'll find..." she was cut off by the room filling with the sounds of screaming and crying out from help. Tears well at the corners of her eyes. A nostalgic feeling of sadness pangs in her heart. "Your own lord has quite the taste for the broken. The gods a wretched loathsome beings." This time a hand was placed on her shoulder. For the first time Sonja opened her eyes and looked over her shoulder and a beautiful woman with the most gentle smile she'd ever seen sat next to her. She looked at her with a complex look of sadness and affection that Sonja felt both comforted and on edge. The face feeling almost familiar. Like something she'd missed but couldn't quite remember. The monster smiles at the enamored Firefox, and in her mothers voice gently cups her cheeks and looks her in the eyes. "They make you, and all your friends endure such suffering, won't you join me be my priest and together we will rid the world of such gods, and when that is done, you'll become so much more than they could ever hope, and you'll be so much better than they would ever be." That day she promised herself to the darkness.
