Because I have this thing where once I get into fictional relationships, I match songs to them.

One of my favourite moments during the Fourth Ninja War is when finally Sasuke joins the battle and everybody is like O_O and then the first word he says is "Sakura".

we need to talk more about what and who konoha sees as a ‘good person’ and ‘good shinobi’.

answer is very obvious actually but it seems like many missed it - which is not surprising because naruto fandom is very dense when it comes to uchihas and since it’s connected a lot to them well yeah - so let’s chat.

konoha sees people as ‘good’ as long as they are good tools. going back all the way to the land of waves arc. as long as shinobi is useful and obedient and can be manipulated and brainwashed into ‘will of fire’ and not question it: they are a good person.

now if you’re ‘against the regime’ which is more simply put: you have your own head that you can think with and you question authorities and their decisions and you have dignity and morals and other values other than blindly serve konoha: you’re a bad tool. if you’re a bad tool = you’re a bad person. 

uchiha are the prime example of course. all the way back to madara. he didn’t even think about turning his back on a village, he didn’t think about being hokage until hashirama suggested that idea and that got tobirama panties in a twist. he was truly ready for era of peace. just as all the uchiha were. and the curse of hatred goes here too. it wasn’t madara who got consumed by it - not it the beginning - it was tobirama who couldn’t move on and was stuck in his ‘uchiha are evil’ mindset. I see many people in this fandom brining up the moment when the uchiha killed their younger brother and say ‘that’s why tobirama hate them’,- yeah but are we forgetting that there were 5 uchiha brothers and in the end only 2 remained? guess who killed others? and who exactly killed izuna? and madara still when along with peace. the whole clan still went along with peace: it’s something even hashirama mentioned: clan didn’t want to fight anymore. how are they ‘consumed by hatred’ when they wanted peace? math is not mathing.

and after that the same clan turned their backs on madara when he came to them with his idea of another uproar. they exiled him. the uchiha exiled their leader. the most powerful member in favor of peace and desire to stay in konoha. but tobirama ‘I know better’ senju was too blinded by hatred to see that. because the uchiha were not good tools, because they had valued their clan and family more than the village and that made them hard to exploit. this is what made them ‘unreliable’: bad tools. and tobirama, danzo and the council went with that idea for decades. and dared to be outraged when the uchiha got enough of that shit and planned a coup? what a joke.

the uchiha gave their lives for konoha just like other leaf shinobi did. they served and spilled blood and instead of being respected and seen as founders of the village, allies, comrades and family - because hey isn’t this how hokage views konoha? family? but the uchiha isn’t a family for some reason - they’re seen as less, as threats, as unreliable powerhouses.

and let’s talk about sakumo hatake for a second. a man more powerful and more feared than the three legendary sannin. konoha’s ‘white fang’. their pride. but when he threw ‘konoha values’ aka ‘kill and die for konoha and noting else including your friends, family and comrades matter’ out of the window, he became a disgrace. because he stopped being a tool that can be used. instead he became a human, who had his own moral code. and konoha, as any system, fears that. and it ended in tragedy.

which is ironic and vile and evil. because for all their ‘we’re a family’ facade, konoha is getting rid of their family members rather nonchalantly and without much concern or thought.

but they are good guys because plot. good guys because of course everything is uchiha’s and ‘curse of hatred’ fault. but never theirs. never. I’m sick.
