August 2020. New month, new goals. I like new months, new weeks, new beginnings. It always feels like a fresh start. Not a do over, but an opportunity to take what I’ve learned and build on it. To find out where else I can go. My new goals this month? I have a few and one is about my health. As I continue to make adjustments for how things are, I know that movement and nutrition are even more important. Like many of us now, I found myself sitting more. Just sitting. I already work from home but at least I had meetings and events to travel to. Now it’s all online. That’s not a bad thing, just different. Part of adapting to where we are right now. Or how about binge watching a new show? That’ll keep me on the couch and before I know it, hours have gone by. And eating? Let’s be real, working from home can lead to more snacking. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked into my cabinets and refrigerator until I found something to snack on. Multiple times a day. It usually involved bread. Carbs. Bread. Carbs. Mostly without thinking too much about it. You get the picture. That makes getting up and moving even more important. At least it does for me. So, I will continue to do my workout program with my people, yes online! Apart but together. And I will be much more mindful about my nutrition. I’ll track because that works for me. It keeps me honest with myself and I get to see what works! Both will keep me accountable and give me the support I need. Stunt riding is often considered a rough and a dangerous activity. There must have been resistance from the people around you. What were your personal struggles like?

Well, to get into stunt riding was never easy. Since Motorsport is always expensive, we were limited by monetary issues in the initial days. And also we are living in a nation where awareness about motor sports is still in its nascent stage, so obviously, there was less of support and more of criticism. But I was determined. I was passionate enough to put in the hard work without fretting about the pain required to overcome obstacles and make something out of nothing! In a way, I was a lone wolf trying to bring a shift in people’s perspective despite all odds and I was lucky. I found my pack of Evolutioners who were all driven by the same zeal and passion. Rest, as they say, is history.

How has Team Evolution evolved since its inception?

Team Evolution has seen its growth from a one-time group of risk-taking wannabes to India’s top professional non-gear stunt team! The synergy that we create is incredible. You should see us perform live. But we still have a long way to go. For that we need sponsors too so that stunt riding can be recognized as a sport. Recently, ‘Disha Academy of Competitive Sportsbike Freestyle’ and Maharashtra Traffic Police came forward in support of this sport. That’s good news for stunt riders like us. Where do you see yourself in the future?

In future, I would want my team to travel across places and win the audience with their scintillating performances. And since I am a professional film-maker, I would like to help them reach out to more people through films and social media. All I want for my team is to excel professionally in this field, which only few people have done so far.
