Portable Boyfriend: TeamMon edition.
If puthkaeng gets their own series I hope it’s combined with teammon—theirs is the only other story so far that I think could be made into a full series and there’s a lot of overlap between the two (what with team and kaeng being bffs and puth and mon being roommates), so their stories could easily be combined (I don’t think either one could quite fill up a full series on their own without any side couples) and both couples would have the running theme of playboys being tamed
My Take on Mon and Team in Ep 15 of Y Destiny
I've seen a lot of people talking about how Mon and Team are toxic and unhealthy after their scene in the final episode but I genuinely don't agree.
Having watched every scene that Mon and Team have appeared in during the entire show, doesn't it seem odd that their relationship would be so toxic all of a sudden? It doesn't resemble their relationship in past episodes at all.
The way I see it is that they were doing a D/s scene (Mon = Dom, Team = sub). Team (aka Prince) had to convince/ beg Mon (aka Smile) to be allowed to go out with Nuea and Kaeng (apparently it had been months since last time he want out) and when he was given permission he had to wear what Mon wanted (the outfit that looked like Mon's style threw up on him) and be back by a certain time (10:15 PM).
One of the reasons I think this is a D/s scene and not a everyday thing is that 1)
Team wears normal clothes every other scene we see him
They don't call each other by their names rather they use the titles Prince and Smile.
Kaeng and Nuea react surprised and amused by what Team is wearing at the bar indicating that this is not normal. There is also no indication that neither have not hang out with him in months which I believe at least one of them would bring up
When we see Team at the bar in Puth-Kaeng's story he is dressed normally and doesn't not seem constrained by any time limits like he was in his story
The whole story doesn't really matched their shown personalities at all.
While I can only speculate on why this specific scene, I believe that Mon still occasionally feels insecure in his relationship with Team due to how they got together and needs to take control and have Team prove to him that he loves and desires him. Having Team willingly submit to his orders may do this. On Team's side he may submit to Mon because he may feel that he needs to prove himself and his love to Mon also because of how they got together and how he acted before their relationship.
Or maybe Mon has a Dominant side and Team has a submissive side that they like to express occasionally, which is perfectly fine.
While the whole story/ scene and D/s aspects of it may not have been dealt with correctly (since most viewed it as toxic), it is still nice to see some representation, especially in BL.
What on earth was even y-destiny ep 5-6. No, bad.
Gotta be honest, this is the cutest version of TeamMon yet. Mon seems a lot more mature than he did in the last episode and his possessiveness worked in the situation. I liked the way their dynamic worked more in this scene than most of the last episode and I'm okay with that. Mon is obviously comfortable in their relationship and it's adorable. Down for it.
Drama idiots are my favorite idiots.
And that is why I love Mon so much.
He is the definition of drama-idiot and adorable beyond measure and so tiny and so innocent and so trusting.
And when his heart is broken, his friends come together for him like a solid brick wall.
That's the magic of drama idiots.
Because no one, absolutely no one, are friends like drama friends.
Also because drama friends know how to put on a show.
I'm reading some of comments in MDL about the latest ep of Y destiny and damn... Is Team and Mon story really that bad?
I've also seen a comment where, Mon is kinda dumb according to some because the way he cried because of how he handled Team's ex and that he's literally at the door is like he's not really ready into relationship. and also MDL commenters say he has a brain of an 8 year old. (Okay MDL chile bro chile lol)
What's your thoughts about it?
Okay, I... don’t think it’s anywhere near that bad? Honestly, I found them cute. They were cute. SunNuea is still my favorite but TeamMon was cute! They were just cute.
Yes, Mon is immature. But that’s just his character. He’s a drama student! All drama people are... dramatic. That’s really all there is too it. They’re dramatic and they’re quirky and they’re weird and there’s nothing wrong with that. Mon is childish and immature but he’s also still a young man. And he’s still definitely interested in Team.
Look, it’s a very classic mismatch of characters, honestly. And they’re cute! Mon is not a child, though he is immature. He’s still a young man and he’s still in the relationship with Team as an equal.
Yes, Team took advantage of his innocence. I mean, that’s the entire plot. And it’s a very traditional and old trope in romcoms. The player and the innocent. Like, this is old as time! The only thing that’s ‘new’ is that it’s gay instead of straight.
Mon’s reaction was immature, yes. But how often do we see this same situation in other BLs? It’s stupid, it’s immature, it’s a plot point to make sure we know how serious Team is taking the relationship .Yes, we can see that because we know that he obviously rejected his ex.
But Mon is new and innocent and this is his first relationship, ever. And Team has already broken his heart once, though it wasn’t Team actually doing the breaking. Him having trust issues makes sense, even a bit into their relationship. He’s innocent and he was hurt and he’s never forgotten that.
So... is it bad? No. I enjoyed it. It was a romcom plot with 0 twists. It was just... exactly what I expected and I am absolutely okay with that, honestly.
