🙋🏻‍♀️: A year ago yesterday, fellow crazy Westie Mom @mrplumpers’s Mom, sent me a message asking me if I could help with 3 dogs facing a grim fate, or if I knew anyone that could. A neighbor had been advised that a widowed man was moving into a 1-bedroom apartment and was taking the 3 dogs he and his wife (who had passed) to a shelter. In Houston, we have a devastating homeless pet population. Owner surrenders are given 3 days to find a home before they are euthanized. The neighbor quickly activated her network, and Momma V all the way in MD saw her FB post. She connected me with Emmie’s Guardian Angel, T, who said she could probably take the other 2. So, exhausted, after work, I drove to an area about 25 minutes away. I met Emmie’s Guardian Angel and picked her up. I figured if Lexi did not get along with her, I could surrender her to Westie Rescue Houston and know they would vet a future furever family. But... no fireworks. For Lexi, that’s huge. They’ve had their disagreements over the year, the worst fight being partially my fault and over food, but otherwise, they do sister-ly annoying things to each other that are almost comical. However, spend a few minutes with them walking and you can tell they look out for each other and actually like each other... Since Emmie joined us, Lexi spends days downstairs, is more active, is less lonely. And Emmie is an incredibly loving, gentle, and sweet girl. She is almost always smiling. She freely gives kisses. She LOVES cuddles.
