Cressa Park
-I see water surrounded by grass and rocks. There are joggers and bikers going along the levee. There is a freeway in the background, and lots of litter all around. There is a homeless man’s camp under the freeway overpass. There are some birds and fish in the river, but not many.
-Our group’s concept of public space applied both well and not so well to this part of the river. On one hand, this was a place where anyone could go to jog, bike, or walk their dog. On the other hand, river was hard to get to, as there were limited access points, and those that were there were all located on small suburban side streets, places most people don’t regularly go through.
I did not feel connected to this place very much at all. It was filled with garbage, with not a trash can in sight. The water looked dirty, and there were truck tracks along the shoreline. There was no incentive at all to enjoy the view of the river, and the people that went by on the sidewalk weren’t looking at the view
Cressa Park
1: I saw a lot of rocks and homeless people. I also saw a lot of bicyclists and joggers riding and jogging along he river. On one side of the river there were houses and a small park. On the other side of the river, there was a large construction site and a lot of big machines.
2: Our group concept of public space fit pretty well with where we were on the river. You can see the idea of public space as you saw people riding their bikes and walking as they please.
3: I was surprised at first when I realized that there was much more water in the river than I expected. Although, it wasn’t a comfortable place to be as there was trash and homeless people’s encampments everywhere. The river seemed pretty disconnected and out of place from its surrounding environment.
All the other engineering kids were dressed up today for presentations and I'm just like whatttt? #teamwon (Taken with Instagram)
