Hello again! Today, we have another Artist’s Spotlight for Purity: The “Post-Yaoi” Anthology--and a preview of the first page!

We're grateful for the opportunity to introduce you to TeaScript, a Minneapolis-based comics artist and graduate of MCAD. Her work is known for being clean, crisp, and positively adorable! Purity features the premiere of her characters Reuben and Claire, partners in... uh, bad luck, as it happens. (Let’s be honest: who hasn’t made their original characters suffer, just a lil?) But don’t worry--it’s not all bad news.

01, 04, 08 ! I'm really curious about your characters dude, tell me 'bout them!

I’m glad you said characters because if I write about one of them I’m writing about all of them hahaha ;oAlso as far as these being canonically correct it’s kind of up in the air, since these are future webcomic characters so stories might be subject to change since they’re technically midgaardian and my OCs~Also I wrote like a friggen essay oops

01: A memory from your character’s childhoodThat one time Ella and Gabe almost went to high school prom. They both realized halfway through pictures at a friend’s place that this so wasn’t them, so they ditched and spent the night just doing things they enjoyed about San Diego (walking on the beach, shitty amusement park food, etc) and reminisced about high school. Ella’s the first one to bring up how she’s going to college far away and she didn’t know how to tell him because they’d been so close for so long. Turns out Gabe’s planning on going to the same school and didn’t tell her for the same reasons. figures.

04: A memory that your character cherishesThat one night when Lewis’ destroyed laptop brought them all closer together. Gabe and Lewis were working on a coding project and Lewis’ laptop just crashes. And he’s lost everything. So Lewis is panicking, and Gabe doesn’t know how to deal with someone he just recently met on the verge of tears at his apartment, so he calls in Ella for backup, who happens to be hanging out with Grace. And they essentially all pull an all-nighter reworking their code on Gabe’s computer and rewriting Lewis’ lost essays on Ella’s while Ella and Gabe check over the essays and code. Grace sneaks into her family’s coffee shop before opening hours to make them a ridiculous amount of quality coffee, which Gabe proceeds to pour an alarming amount into a soup bowl before downing it in one gulp. Gabe’s memory gets a little foggy after that but other than a few instances where he started talking in code, everything went smoothly. For Lewis’ birthday they all pool money together to help him fix his laptop.

08: Something that makes your character laughGrace thinks it’s a riot how much of a morning person Gabe isn’t. And they go for early morning jogs sometimes (he used to be in soccer, she’s in volleyball, so they work out and keep each other motivated), and she proceeds to put his angsty face on every social media whatever she has accounts to. Ella’s pretty fond of them and has a folder on her phone just of grumpy Gabe snapchats. They totally got #grumpyGabe trending at some point.
