okay, it's not perfect, but i think it's good enough for now -- especially without being able to use a reference (i looked up 'cloak blowing in wind' and things like that, so i looked at some examples, but didn't find any ref worthy)
clearly i have a ways to go when it comes to animating fabrics, but i learned a lot about the Wave Principle for this and i finally got to a point of understanding. my main issue with the previous attempts was that i was following the direction of my lines too closely:
when applying the Wave Principle, you want your lines to actually go in OPPOSITE directions, so that it's changing how the folds look and not just lifting the folds up.
so even if the final product isn't 100% how i want it (and tbf, it's nowhere near done yet, i still need to add folds and such), i did learn a lot and didn't spend 18923483 hours doing so :D 👍🏻
EDIT: i did an in-between for frames 4 and 5 bc i noticed that really jerky motion of the left fold, so that has been fixed
