Witchcraft on a Budget & Other Tips #1
Hey guys! This is a series of posts for things I’d wish I’d known or was available when I was younger and first getting into witchcraft, as well as some things I’ve come to realize during my journey back. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions you may have :)
1. Libby/Overdrive/Your Local Library (free!) Doing research is arguably the most important part of pursing the path of witchcraft. When I was younger, this meant having to spend money I didn’t have a lot of on books that I might not even find helpful or try to borrow some from a friend, all while trying to keep them hidden because I was in the broom closet. However, now there’s a few options to help with this! Your local library may have a few books on the topic and I highly recommend checking! Libraries offer free membership and most have ebooks as well, which are much easier to hide if you’re still in the broom closet and have your own electronic device. I didn’t even have to leave the house to get a membership; my state allowed me to sign up online and sent my library card to me in the mail! Libby and Overdrive are apps that plug in with your library membership to let you browse hundreds of ebooks and audiobooks (Libby for your phone and Overdrive geared more towards eReaders like Kindle). If you have multiple library memberships, you can connect them all and get even more access to even more books! The cool thing about using these apps is that you never have to worry about late fees-- if you’re not done with your book you can extend your loan and when your loan is up it automatically returns the book! If there’s any books you want but your library doesn’t have them you can also put in a recommendation for your library to purchase them.
