Regarding my stance on Technic/Tekkit (or, "I dun goofed")

So I might have been a little too hasty in saying the Technic Pack had shitty practices. Literally what happened was I was talking about doing a Tekkit Let's Play on an IRC, and some random person went "Ew, Tekkit, don't you know that modpack is illegal?" and so I didn't really question it. Which was a mistake on my part. (Stashing the rest below a readmore so there isn't a wall of text)

It only occurred to me today to actually have a look and see what was actually going on, because literally the only thing I knew about Technic using mods without the modder's permission was a drama incident a couple years back, when the developer for Forestry demanded that his modpack be removed, the Tekkit staff rudely denied his request, and he retaliated by making Tekkit's version of Forestry have exploding bees. (Which honestly I think is a brilliant way to send a message to someone who won't listen to you, but yeah, it was an unpleasant exchange).

Since then, it appears Technic's policy on modpacks has changed for the better. From Tekkit Lite onwards, their official modpacks (Tekkit, Hexxit, Big Dig, Voltz, Attack Of The B-Team and so on) have had full permissions from all the mod-makers involved. However, they do not take responsibility for unofficial, user-made modpacks (like Business Elite or Tekkify, for instance), stating that the responsibility is on the people who put those modpacks together to get permissions - This makes sense, as Tekkit doesn't even host those modpacks, they just provide a Platform URL so that users can download them on the Technic Launcher.

So in short, I goofed up, didn't do my research, and I apologise for any inconvenience I may have made in saying that Tekkit has shitty practices. They -did- have shitty practices, but it seems like they were quick to get things sorted out after the Forestry incident.

To that end, I probably will move back to Tekkit because oh my god Tech World 2 doesn't have Project Red and I really really really want those spiffy looking lights for my base aaaaa

important note for Technic/Tekkit; ELECTRIC FURNACES NEED LOW VOLTAGE POWER. THEY WILL EXPLODE GIVEN MEDIUM OR HIGH VOLTAGE POWER.

I really like Technic Launcher as a whole but one of my favourite parts has to be booting up Yogbox (because of BetterDungeons) and flying around until I find a castle or a ship or something and tidying it up.

It's just so much fun to go in and break spawners and disable traps and then clean up and decorate the place so it looks pretty. I'm fully aware that's not what the point of the mod is but it's so much fun!

I have been wanting to play tekkit lite and have the ability to put up a server and everything but I don't feel like playing alone really. Anyone up to the task of joining me for a couple hours of tekkit tonight?
