From left to right: Techno Caster 2.0, Zerena (Serena, she just wants to be edgy) Blackheart, Noxaura Blackheart A.K.A. 'Mama'.
Noxaura Blackheart is the CEO of Blackheart Industries. It is a neutral business, supporting both heroes and villains and providing them with a plethora of technology and services. It spans over three different dimensions: her own, the Nightmare Realm, and Waking Realm (K.O.'s Dimension). While her business is neutral and she is viewed as hospitable to her clients, her Pow Card has her listed as a -9 villain. The fact that she is a nightmare demon makes people very weary around her. Despite being a villain, she fully supports her daughter's aspirations of being a hero with the warning that she may not be able to protect her if she chooses that path.
Zerena Blackheart is the 15-to-18-year-old daughter of Noxaura Blackheart but she does not seem to share her mother's demonic traits. She is tired of her own dimension and wants to see others, fueled by the fact that her peers often chatter about visiting K.O.'s dimension for various reasons. Her aspiration of becoming a hero does not spark until she visits said dimension and she decides she wants to follow in the path of a fallen hero from there named 'Techno Caster'. Thus, Techno Caster 2.0 was created. Everyone who enters her friend circle calls her 'Z'.
Techno Caster was a human hero and a celebrity of her time due to her masked medieval-themed crime-fighting group known as Critical, which was led by her father Gyro Knight and brother, Melo-Dramatic. Her role was the healer and brains of the group, relying heavily on her magic in fights. Critical was at odds with P.O.I.N.T. (Or mainly her father not trusting them and doing 'heroing wrong') but had collaborated together a handful of times in order to bring down a greater threat. She is credited for a number of things that cause her to stand out among the rest, such as:
Taking time to teach people how to defend themselves or survive a hostage situation with a supervillain.
Exposing that the hero/villain world is never as black and white as many believed and petitioning for better treatment of troubled citizens who have the likely hood of becoming a villain from societal pressure.
Pressing for harsher sentences for villains who used the innocent just to get the hero's attention.
Seeking harsher sentences for adult villains who solely targeted child heroes due to having been a child hero herself. She believed there was a line that should never be crossed when it came to attacks on budding child heroes.
TC often went against Gyro Knight's orders when it came to helping other heroes in need, especially those within P.O.I.N.T. She also believed that a cry for help should never be ignored but that you should also tread carefully when answering one. It is speculated that she was answering a cry for help when she was killed 9 to 14 years ago by the explosion of a bomb that detonated prematurely by five minutes. A lesser villain tried taking credit for the death but it was ultimately written off as someone she and P.O.I.N.T. had been trying to track down. Her charred visor, cape, and staff were recovered as well as ashes that were tested to be hers, indicating that she had disintegrated in the explosion. The staff had pierced the side of a nearby building.
News that Critical was on the verge of disbanding and that TC and another member of Critical had plans to join P.O.I.N.T. before the death had surfaced a day or two later. While she was often brainstorming with Doctor Greyman when the teams were cooperating together, she was paired with Laser Blast on outing missions for balance. This was due to Gyro Knight and Laser Blast constantly going head to head and Melo-Dramatic following his father's lead. Techno Caster seemed to be the only willing team member to reach out to the group when they needed extra help. The tag the media used for the two was 'Team Visor' or 'Techno Blast'. The two were rarely seen together outside of missions. TC and LB are the same age.
Techno Caster 2.0. Not the original mind you. This girl, Zerena, (Said like ‘Serena’ but spelled with a Z for some reason) doesn’t have a hero card. Actually, no one knows who she is. Between sixteen and eighteen, she just showed up at the bodega one day, excited about seeing even the most mundane of things as if she had spent most of her time cooped up somewhere. She didn’t even know what ice cream tasted like. Zerena is interested in becoming a hero, but she’s a bit hesitant about fighting. She doesn’t have the costume though, not yet anyway.
Thought I’d bring this back after the whole ‘Big Reveal’ thing since Laser Blast’s backstory reminds me of hers (Mind you, I had that story planned since Venomous’ introduction) but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that hers and Laser Blast’s backstories were much different than I gave it credit for so as long as the inspiration sticks around, the more I might play with it.
The first rendition's art style didn’t exactly fit into the OK KO universe. This one, however, came out so damn cute looking, I just had to share. While I was working on her, I realized that the hairstyle I was trying to give her reminded me of Phantasma from Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School and when I googled her, I found that she was actually incorporated into an episode as a friend of Enid’s! Holy crap! I adored SDatGS when I was a kid! I’ll have to go find the episode now.
