Hi guys, here's a preview of each of my paintings when SPIDERSILK PRODUCTIONS organized our very first exhibit TECHNOTEAPOT: A Gothic and Steampunk Tea Party. We just officially closed our gallery this evening, and we're so happy to have had a much bigger turnout than we expected, and how so many people took the time to brave the weather and traffic to support us.
I'm also personally glad that there were people (especially complete strangers) who expressed interest in my works as much as those of my fellow Arachnids Dione and Maku. But I couldn't push for any sale in the end because:
The print outcome of my works was pretty bad, as this was my first time painting with the intent of production. I'll look for another print company more suited to my works, and then actually frame them so that they'll at least look accurate and presentable in real life.
This is my first time being part of an exhibit, and my first time painting on scales larger than web resolutions on 150+ dpi. I feel like I've only dipped my toe into the wading pool, and I'll be more comfortable giving/selling my works when I'm in deeper waters. If I can't give my "best" work, then I'll wait for the time when I believe I've become better at this.
During TECHNOTEAPOT, we were invited to present some of our works at a collective exhibit in January. Deadline's on December 16, and I want to come up with something new for this. Wish me luck!
TECHNOTEAPOT is only the beginning. We hope to come up with another themed exhibit early next year, and invite more artists and groups of various specialties to share the space and support. This experience has given me the pleasure of meeting people with so much talent in different fields, but merely lack the exposure. Dokissaten, Royale House, Ravencage Studios: I'm looking at you. Here's to hoping we grow better and stronger together! :)
Till next exhibit! To everyone who has been part of it in the smallest way: Thank you!
PS. I snuck in a Dune reference somewhere in this post. ;D
