Strike 9: Phone numbers and personal information of over 500 million Facebook users were leaked online. Facebook confirms that it was legitimate user data that was leaked but dismisses it’s high-security level by saying it was data that was taken from fakebook in 2020.

2018 Sep - 50 million users

2019 Apr - 1.5 million users (yes twice in the same month)
2019 Sep - 419 million users
2019 Dec - 309 million users
Now imagine all of your WhatsApp messages linked to your Facebook account.
So what should you do about it?
Well some sites will tell you that you can check if your data was leaked by going to a particular URL and submitting the email address that you used to login to Facebook. WARNING! Do not do this! This will only confirm to the holder of this breached database that your email is legitimate and that it belongs to an actual user. Think about it, even if you find out that your data is leaked, there is still nothing you can do about what has already been made public. The only way you can gain peace of mind in future is by deleting your Facebook account and of course without a doubt delete WhatsApp!
Why use an exploitative inferior communications app such as WhatsApp when there are carbon copied versions of it namely “Signal Private Messenger” that has all the features you need including privacy and security? Afterall, even Zuckerburg uses Signal (click to read).

As #SriLanka celebrates independence today, question yourself: are you really free? Can being monitored, watched and profiled be called freedom? Companies like @Facebook, @WhatsApp & @Instagram profit off spying on every single digital action you take; will you continue to let them? This year WhatsApp asked it's users to give them "legal" permission to do what they have been doing since the year 2014; which in reality is to share your information with 3rd party marketeers. Since then millions of users have moved to platforms such as @Telegram & @Signal. Due to this backlash WhatsApp announced that they will be "postponing" their compulsory Privacy Agreement to a later date and has ONLY (emphasis on only) been telling users how safe their app is by referring to their UNPROVEN end-to-end (E2E) encryption features. It is important to note that even if the E2E encryption did exist in WhatsApp, this technology ONLY (again emphasis on only) safeguards the content of your communication from interception WHILE IT IS BEING TRANSMITTED! Therefore by accepting this new policy of WhatsApp's, whether it be today or a few months from now, you will be granting them legal permission to do whatever they wish to do with your data that is within WhatsApp (if not already, then with future app updates) AND if you have also granted permission for WhatsApp to access storage on your device, they will have the freedom to access every unencrypted piece of information on your smart device; whether it be your call logs, browser history, saved geo-locations, your passwords and even your banking details! Are you really willing to share all of that information with many people who you do not know at all?? WhatsApp used to be a Privacy Focused messaging app that we could contact friends and relatives with but Facebook has turned it into a data stealing marketing platform much like their other apps: Facebook, Instagram & Facebook's Messenger.
