Trent Watch: S4, E2
SPOILERS
Nothing directly tied here to Trent's appearance except the presence of his absence. Which feels, to me, much the same thing and significant, though maybe I'll wait to elaborate once we've seen more of the season. We do visit the old shared office, but there is no sign of Nate or Trent as Beard has moved in and presumably the others have moved on. Everything looks a bit empty, frankly. I do need to get another look at Beard's desk to see if The Book may or may not be there.
In the Press Room, Marcus Adebeyo is still working, presumably, for The Independent, though he does not make the reference we're all expecting. And some fella dressed in a bucket hat eating a sandwich who Roy grumbly refers to as 'Paddington' is sitting in Trent's old seat. Naturally, Ted chooses Marcus first, but moves quickly to Paddington. Which could mean nothing.
The thing I feel here most is setting Ted up for something much bigger, but I'm going to continue to save up those thoughts for another time.
I have no talent for screen shots, but I would like to add to the Bi-Angles Theory.
I present to you Ted’s new digs (lovely, full of life), complete with a purple and pink island in the kitchen, and first thing he walks out in is his blue Richmond jumper.

Fuck it all, Trent reaches for the cardigan hanging on the back of his chair and slips it on. Tucks his glasses into his breast pocket. Stands to slot a gentle hand under Ted's arm to direct him away. Away from prying eyes and lip readers and supersonic hearing. Says privately to Ted as he escorts them toward the stairs. "I can't really say anything I want to here. You've managed to expose your legs to the sharks by coming to find me."
It takes a moment before Ted realizes that Trent is seeing him. Seeing past the growing muchness to disguise Ted's oncoming discomfort. It is a small underlying realization beneath the growing sirens surrounding them. In spite of the sudden surge of cortisol, Ted can feel the kindness in Trent removing him from the situation and does not hesitate, does not flinch as Trent moves a gentle hand between his shoulders.
