unlike what some source material likes to depict, my batman was NOT abusive. he would have never struck me or my siblings. yes, he let me become a vigilante at 10 years old, but that's more of a contrivance of the genre we lived in. also, i kinda did that without permission in the first place.
bruce was never anything but protective of me, to the point that he was often OVERprotective. i don't properly remember the fight that led me to run away to jump city, but i know bruce was only trying to keep me safe. he was bad at communicating, though, and could be pretty overbearing when he got worried, and i was 14 and needed space.
(though, in hindsight, running away to the other side of the country was kind of idiotic, even if it worked out fine for me in the end. at least i know bruce kept close tabs on me; he tried really hard to give me the space i needed, but he wasn't completely absent and ignorant to what was happening to me.)
so yeah. i hate when the comics try to write bruce as a horrible abusive shithead. that's my dad!! he fucking loved me to bits and would've done anything to protect me and wanted me to be happy!!! my bruce is gonna beat the shit out of those shitty alternate universe versions of himself!! frankly he'd probably pick a fight with the bruce from my other (lego batman movie) timeline just for being kinda mean to me initially even though he pretty quickly changed his behavior when he realized he'd been mean!! i mean seriously, why would a superhero, who takes such hard stances against killing and cruelty, turn around and physically assault any child, let alone his OWN kids?? that is NOT who batman is.
(and for the record lego bruce wasn't abusive either!! he was kinda stupid and had chronic Foot In Mouth disease but beyond the handful of mean comments he makes in the movie, he never did anything to hurt me!!! so don't get that twisted!!)
