Az óriások kertje

"ingókövekkel" már szinte mindenki találkozott, vagy éppen látott filmekben, mesékben ( akár sajátkezűleg is épített olyat). A fotón pont egy ilyen ingó szikla látható.

Namíbiában a déli részen egy adott területen a dolerit sziklatömbök között a szél kifújta a puhább anyagot, így úgy néznek ki, mintha régen az óriások rakták volna egymásra őket. A szél által okozott erózió 150 millió évvel ezelőtt fejtette ki hatását, létrehozva ezeket a látványos alakzatokat.

A tegezfa és a doleritsziklák felett a déli féltekés Tejút látványa uralkodik, mely a májusi estéken egyre inkább délnyugatabbra kerül a Carina ( Hajógerinc ) és a Vela ( Vitorla ) csillagképekkel.

Érdekes, hogy a déli féltekén a megszokott északival ellentétesen, tehát az óramutató járásával megegyező módon fordul el az ég, így a képen látható csillagok jobbra és lefelé mozognak a balra elhelyezkedő pólustól.

The garden of the giants

Almost everyone has met or seen "balancing stones" in movies and fairy tales (they even built one with their own hands). The photo shows just such a balancing rock.

In southern Namibia, in a certain area between the dolerite boulders, the wind has blown out the softer material, so that they look as if they were stacked on top of each other by giants long ago. Wind erosion took its toll 150 million years ago, creating these spectacular formations.

Above the quiver trees and the dolerite rocks, the view of the Southern Hemisphere's Milky Way dominates, which on May evenings moves more and more to the southwest with the constellations Carina and Vela.

It is interesting that in the southern hemisphere the sky turns clockwise, opposite to the usual north, so the stars in the picture move to the right and down from the pole located to the left.

A Tél csillagai

2026.01.11. - Vastag hótakaró, hófúvás és derült hajnalokon csontrepesztő mínuszok jellemzik az igazi telet. A fagyos, havas táj felett ott ragyognak éjszakánként a téli csillagképek, látványosságok.

A téli éjszakai égbolt leglátványosabb csillagképe az Orion még a belvárosokból is látszódik, kint távol a fényszennyezéstől pedig szinte megvilágítja a tájat, hasonlóképp az éjszakai égbolt legfényesebb csillaga a Szíriusz ( a romtemplom csúcsánál ), ám mostanában van egy fényesebb "dolog" az égen, az pedig a Jupiter ( a képben balra fent ).

Míg a csillagoknak szabad szemmel is látható színűk van, addig számos ködösség rejtve marad a szemünk elől, de a mai technológia már képes megjeleníteni ezeket a halvány emissziós ködösségeket is.

A felvétel egyfajta panorámakép, mely összesen 35 képből áll. 30 fotó egy része követéssel készült, míg a panoráma előtere leállított óraművel. A hótakaró és a visszaverődő fények miatt alacsonyabb 1600-as ISO lett használva f2.2-es rekeszen és 30 másodperces záridőn.

A fotózás végén további öt olyan fénykép készült, ahol egy a fényképezőgépbe illesztett H-alfa keskenysávú szűrővel ISO3200-on és 90 másodperccel a csillagködökre lett exponálva. Önmagukban ezek a fotók vörösesek, ám megfelelő beállítással szépen kihozható belőlük a ködösségek, mint például a Sirály-köd, a Barnard-ív, vagy éppen a Rozetta fényes ködössége, stb.

Különös, hogy a hótakaró szép homogén előteret ad, de valójában nagyon fényszennyező tud lenni még településfények nélkül is, hiszen akkor az égbolt fényét veri vissza.

A fotó -10°C-ban, gyenge hófúvásban és némi felhőátvonulások között készült.

Stars of Winter

Thick snow cover, blowing snow and bone-crushing minuses on clear dawns characterize the real winter. Above the frozen, snowy landscape, the winter constellations and attractions shine at night.

Orion, the most spectacular constellation in the winter night sky, can be seen even from the city centers, and outside away from light pollution it almost lights up the landscape, similarly the brightest star in the night sky is Sirius (at the top of the ruined church), but recently there is a brighter "thing" in the sky, and that is Jupiter (top left in the picture).

While the stars have colors visible to the naked eye, many nebulae remain hidden from our eyes, but today's technology can now display these faint emission nebulae.

The photo is a kind of panoramic image, consisting of a total of 35 images. Some of the 30 photos were taken with tracking, while the foreground of the panorama was taken with stopped tracker mount. Due to the snow cover and reflected lights, a lower ISO of 1600 was used at f2.2 and a shutter speed of 30 seconds.

At the end of the photo shoot, five more photos were taken, where one was exposed to the star nebulae with an H-alpha narrowband filter inserted in the camera at ISO3200 and for 90 seconds. By themselves, these photos are reddish, but with the right settings, nebulae can be brought out nicely, such as the Seagull Nebula, the Barnard Arc, or the bright nebulosity of the Rosetta, etc.

It is strange that the snow cover gives a nice homogenous foreground, but in fact it can be very light-polluting even without settlement lights, since then it reflects the light of the sky.

The photo was taken at -10°C, in light blowing snow and between some passing clouds.

A Vándor Kilátója

Október 4.-én hajnal előtt egy szép égi vándor emelkedett a kilátó fölé. Az eleinte szabad szemmel láthatlan üstökös az október hónap második felére akár szabad szemmel is látható lehet majd.

A C/2025 A6 Lemmon üstökös lassan közeledik az esti láthatósága felé, addig viszont a teliholdfény ragyogja be és nehezíti az észlelését, valamint hajnalban egyre alacsonyabbra is kerül.

Október 11.-étől esténként már a Hold olyan későn kel, hogy egyre többet lesz majd teljesen sötét és akkor már érdemes északnyugat felé tekintgetni binokulárral, ám talán a legizgalmasabb szakasz október 20.-a környékén lesz, amikor az Ökörhajcsár csillagképen megy keresztül a Göncölszekértől balra.

A felvétel már egy teleobjektíves sorozat, ahol az előtérre átlagolva lett fotózva, majd az óramű elindultával az üstökös is "el lett kapva". 135mm-es teleobjektíves fotón szépen megfigyelhető a karcsú csóvája az október egyik legjobban várt üstökösének.

The Wanderer Lookout

Before dawn on October 4th, a beautiful celestial wanderer rose above the observation deck. The comet, initially invisible to the naked eye, will be visible to the naked eye by the second half of October.

Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon is slowly approaching its evening visibility, but until then the light of the full moon shines in and makes it difficult to see, and it also gets lower at dawn.

In the evenings from October 11, the moon will rise so late that it will be completely dark more and more, and then it is worth looking to the northwest with binoculars, but perhaps the most exciting phase will be around October 20, when it passes through the constellation Bootes to the left of Big Dipper.

The photo is already a telephoto series, where the foreground was averaged, and when the clockwork started, the comet was also "caught". The slender plume of one of October's most anticipated comets can be nicely observed in a 135mm telephoto photo.

Galaxisunk központja

Nyári estéken ( vagy tavaszi hajnalokon ) holdfény és fényszennyezésmentes égen már szépen látszódik a Tejút sávja, melynek centruma Magyarországról nézve a déli irányban látszódik a horizont felett.

A déli féltekén azonban az egész galaxisnak a központja függőlegesen fent delel, így könnyebben le lehet fotózni, pláne, ha a helyszín fekvése ideális.

A hatalmas mozaikfelvétel Namíbiában készült az Isabis farmon, ahol 2025. május 30.-án a holdnyugta után kezdődött el a mozaik paneljeinek gyűjtése. Egy erre a célra felépített kisteleobjektíves rendszer gyűjtötte a fényt, igaz manuálisan, ezért több mint két órán keresztül kellett felügyelni.

A panorámafotó 110 darab kisebb képből áll, melyek egy 135mm-es teleobjektívvel és Canon EOS6D-vel készültek ISO1600-on, f2.8-on. Egy kép egy percig készült, utána a csillagkövető kamerával odébb kellett fordulni a következő képhez.

A feldolgozásnál a fotókat kalibrálni kellett, majd jöhetett az illesztés, így 30 ezer pixel széles panorámakép készült végül. A nagy felbontás eredménye az apró csillagmező, így nagyobb hangsúlyt kaptak a sötét porfelhők.

The center of our galaxy

On summer evenings (or spring dawns) in a moonlight and light pollution-free sky, the strip of the Milky Way can be seen beautifully, the center of which can be seen above the horizon in the southern direction from Hungary.

However, in the southern hemisphere, the center of the entire galaxy is vertically above, so it is easier to take photos, especially if the location of the place is ideal.

The huge mosaic shot was taken in Namibia on the Isabis farm, where the collection of the mosaic panels began after moonset on May 30, 2025. A small telephoto lens system built for this purpose collected the light, albeit manually, so it had to be monitored for more than two hours.

The panoramic photo consists of 110 smaller images, which were taken with a 135mm telephoto lens and Canon EOS6D at ISO1600, f2.8. One picture was taken for one minute, after which the star tracking camera had to be turned away for the next picture.

During the processing, the photos had to be calibrated, then the matching could come, so a 30,000 pixel wide panoramic image was finally created. The result of the high resolution is the small star field, so the dark dust clouds were more emphasized.

Kísérőnk fényében

Amikor a Holdból csak egy sarló alak látszódik, tehát újhold után pár nappal este vagy előtte pár nappal hajnalban, akkor igencsak látványos, valamint a fénye sem olyan erős. Azért árnyékot már vet, de még lehet látni talán a Tejutat, akár a ködösségeket is.

A lényegi különbség akkor van, ha ezt nem a Kárpát-medencéből, hanem egy 1800méter magasan fekvő fennsíkról nézzük a déli féltekéről.

A holdfényes esték beköszöntével különös fény világította meg a szavannát. Nem az a fajta sápadt holdfény, amit idehaza megszokhattunk egy 26%-os megvilágítottság esetén, hanem inkább éles, ezüstfehéres fény a nagyon tiszta levegő miatt. Egy ilyen kis holdfázisban a Tejút még mindig remekül látszódik. Minden további nélkül lehet látni a centrumot és a sötétködöket is akár. A távcsöves rendszerek keskenysávon úgy gyűjtötték a fényt, mintha újhold lenne.

Galaxisunk sávja a déli féltekéről nem egy egyszerű ezüstös derengés, hanem amikor jó helyen van, akkor a centrum árnyékot vet. Ránézve nem kell szenvedni a látvánnyal... egyszerűen ott van és érződik, hogy tényleg egy galaxisban élünk. A centrumkörnyéki színek érezhetők, míg a sötétködök könnyedén kivehetők.

A felvétel látható épület az Isabis Astro Lodge, mely igen jó menedéket nyújtott a hideg keleti szél ellen és kényelmet is szolgáltatott az ilyenkorra már megfáradt asztrofotósoknak.

A felvétel egy sorozatból van, annak 10 képes átlaga. Képenként 11mm, ISO6400, f2.8-as értékek voltak. A fotókat egy TTArtisan 11mm, valamint egy Canon EOS6D együttese gyűjtötte be.

In the light of our companion

When only a crescent shape is visible from the Moon, i.e. a few days after the new moon in the evening or a few days before it at dawn, it is quite spectacular, and its light is not so strong. It already casts a shadow, but you can still see the Milky Way, even the nebulae.

The essential difference is if we look at it not from the Carpathian basin, but from a plateau 1,800 meters high in the southern hemisphere.

With the arrival of the moonlit evenings, a strange light illuminated the savannah. It's not the kind of pale moonlight that we're used to here at 26% illumination, but rather a sharp, silver-white light due to the very clean air. In such a small moon phase, the Milky Way still looks great. Without further ado, you can even see the center and the dark nebulae. Telescope systems collected the light in a narrow band as if it were a new moon.

The band of our galaxy from the southern hemisphere is not a simple silvery glow, but when it is in the right place, the center casts a shadow. Looking at it, you don't have to suffer with the sight... it's simply there and you feel like you're really living in a galaxy. The colors around the center can be felt, while the dark clouds can be easily distinguished.

The building shown in the picture is the Isabis Astro Lodge, which provided a very good shelter against the cold east wind and also provided comfort to the already tired astrophotographers.

The recording is from a series, it is an average of 10 images. Each image had values ​​of 11mm, ISO6400, f2.8. The photos were collected by a combination of a TTArtisan 11mm and a Canon EOS6D.

Tavaszi esték fénye

2026.03.06. - Nyugodt, napos idő után, távol a városok fényétől napnyugta után elkezdenek előbújni a fényesebb csillagok, majd a csillagképek is. Végül teljesen besötétedik és szabad szemmel egy jó égbolt alól 2500 csillagot is lehet látni. Ha nincs fent a Hold, akkor különös fények tündökölhetnek még a sok csillag mellé.

Az egyik fajta fény, melyet sokan ismernek a Tejút fénye, mely koratavasszal délkeletről egészen északnyugatig húzódik. Nem olyan fényes, mint nyáron, hisz pont kifelé nézünk a galaxisból.

Nyugaton viszont olyan fény van, mely igaz nem a Földről, de a naprendszerünkből érkezik. Neve Állatövi fény és a bolygóközi poron szóródik a Nap fénye úgy, hogy azt sötét égbolt alól is lehet látni.

A felvétel összesen 100 képből áll, egyfajta körpanoráma. A képek egyenként Samyang 35mm-es objektívvel és Canon 6D-vel lettek készítve ISO3200on f2.2őn és 30 másodperccel. H-alfa szűrővel még további 12 fotó lett gyűjtve ugyanezen beállításokkal 90 másodpercig a képen látható vöröses ködösségek miatt.

Light of spring evenings

After calm, sunny weather, away from the lights of the cities, after sunset, the brighter stars and then the constellations start to appear. Finally, it gets completely dark and with the naked eye you can see 2,500 stars under a good sky. If the moon is not up, strange lights can shine next to the many stars.

One type of light that many people are familiar with is the light of the Milky Way, which stretches from the southeast to the northwest in early spring. It's not as bright as in summer, because we're looking straight out of the galaxy.

In the west, on the other hand, there is a light that does not come from the Earth, but from our solar system. Its name is Allatovi light and the light of the Sun is scattered on the interplanetary dust in such a way that it can be seen even from under a dark sky.

The shot consists of a total of 100 images, a kind of circular panorama. The images were taken individually with a Samyang 35mm lens and a Canon 6D at ISO3200 at f2.2 and 30 seconds. Another 12 photos were collected with the H-alpha filter with the same settings for 90 seconds due to the reddish nebulae visible in the image.

Télies intermezzo

Az első télies időre nem is kellett sokat várni, konkrétan ősz végén bekövetkezett 10-15, van ahol 20 centi hóval, mely egésznap megmaradt a fákon is.

A havazást Magyarországon egy mediterrán ciklon okozta, mely jó pályán haladt el ahhoz, hogy hideg is legyen és kiadós csapadék is társuljon hozzá.

A táj ilyenkor rendkívül látványos a vastag hótakarótól, szinte szokatlan, mert igazi havas helyzetek évente egyszer-kétszer vannak errefelé.

Ahogy kiderül az égbolt estére, a hőmérséklet ilyenkor mélyzuhanásba kezd. A levegő kiszáradt, a felszín teljesen homogén, az égbolt derült és így készült -7°C-ban ( az autó hőmérője szerint !!! ) ez a felvétel, ahol a fotó végére minden vastagon deres lett, kivéve az optika, ami fűtött volt.

Régóta tervben volt egy ilyesfajta felvétel elkészítése, ahol vastag hótakaró felett az őszi-téli csillagképek ragyognak a Tejút sávjával együtt. Mire elkészült a sorozat, addigra dél felől megérkezett a köd is.

A panorámakép 100 darab 30 másodperces fotóból áll, melyek egyenként ISO3200-on f2.2-őn készültek 35mm-en egy Canon 6D és egy Samyang 35mm-es objektív segítségével. Az égbolt esetében a követőmechanika végig stabilan tartotta a csillagokon a kamerát.

A kép fehéregyensúlya a kék felé lett állítva a fagyos, havas hangulat miatt.

Winter intermezzo

We didn't have to wait long for the first wintry weather, specifically 10-15, which occurred at the end of autumn, with 20 centimeters of snow in some places, which remained on the trees all day.

The snowfall in Hungary was caused by a Mediterranean cyclone, which passed on a good track to be cold and accompanied by heavy precipitation.

The landscape at this time is extremely spectacular due to the thick snow cover, almost unusual, because there are real snowy situations here once or twice a year.

As the sky clears in the evening, the temperature then begins to plummet. The air is dry, the surface is completely homogeneous, the sky is clear, and this shot was taken at -7°C (according to the car's thermometer !!! ), where by the end of the photo everything became thickly frosty, except for the optics, which were heated.

It had been planned for a long time to make such a shot, where the autumn-winter constellations shine together with the band of the Milky Way above a thick blanket of snow. By the time the series was finished, the fog had arrived from the south.

The panoramic image consists of 100 30-second photos, each taken at ISO3200 at f2.2 on 35mm using a Canon 6D and a Samyang 35mm lens. In the case of the sky, the tracking mechanism kept the camera stable on the stars throughout.

The white balance of the image was set towards blue due to the frosty, snowy atmosphere.
