I moved to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia for half a year to work on my tech startup. One of my favourite streets to get brunch is called Jalan Telawi. 

It has these little back-alleys full of kitchens, storage units and industrial scrumbles.

I go and photograph bits periodically for reference, then hash together random parts tin Blender to make kits from the real-life buildings.

This is No.1 in a forthcoming series of buildings from the Jalan Telawi backstreets.

i don’t remember if i have been here before, but this is a spanish restaurant that has been in the telawi area for a long time. my friends and i decided to visit for late lunch after our wonderful spa session, was so hungry since i skipped breakfast. XD

we ordered a jug of watermelon sangria to share, they mix quite a bit of alcohol in it, turns out pretty strong. ordered the avocado, egg salad, meat platter with mashed potatoes and vegetables and seafood paella to share.

the salad was nice, love avocados very much, fresh vegetables are always good. meat platter has beef, lamb and pork ribs with piggy in the blanket, all the meat are very flavorful and tender, goes well with the sauce and mustard. seafood paella was added on after we were half way eating, so it took a while to cook. the seafood is nice, we definitely enjoyed the burnt crispy rice at the bottom of the pan.

it was a scrumptious lunch, the ambiance is very relaxing and comfortable, feels sleepy after so much good food and sangria. and we did have a lot of catch up done.. it’s certainly been a while. definitely sucks when we cannot meet as often as we want to. really glad to be able to spend the day together, and the meal was enjoyable, the staff were also attentive and nice to us, while the restaurant is not busy at all.

Saw this beautiful, raw mural on the wall today while walking to lunch. It was almost surprising how this canvas that someone chose to put their creativity into, was constructed with only the intent to protect the innards of a space. Also, the fact that it was adjacent to a contrastingly unremarkable slab of concrete, at least to sight. However, when I gave it some thought, I realised that the contrast gave this art more significance. The artist picked this wall, this canvas, to breathe life and colours into. And the other wall, plain as it may seem, may become another's canvas one day to tell another story.
