Don't Tell Me You Love Me || An Aldryn Drabble
Of course he sat, deathly still upon his bed. Ruby hues looked into to ruby hues as he paused, dumbfounded at the revelation beholden to him. Him. Teldryn Sero, of all mer. He wanted to say it back, the soft words spoken to him in Dunmeri, sleepy and unaware as they were.
He wanted to, but didn't know that he could, with her still alive, though she wasn't with him. So his expression blanked. The younger mer, who lay upon the bed they currently shared was mortified. His face was a blank slate as he stared up at his friend. He knew he was tired but to let that slip? He didn't know if he could pass it off with a laugh.
The silence had lasted too long already. His face was schooled as best he could, despite wide eyes and slowly curling fists. And so the mercenary and the mage stared at one another in the candlelit darkness of their shared inn room.
Allryn swallowed briefly as a hand reached to his face, brushing back his unbound hair. "Don't." He heard spoken softly. "Don't tell me you love me, when I can't say it back." And then, he nearly wept.
