It’s remote [a spot in LA he's been writing from] and kind of weird, and I’m going to go there for three days and write. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to it. I found it via a YouTube video. It’s got some very interesting locals who live there, it’s sort of backwards when it comes to technology. It feels like you’re going back in time when you’re there. But I don’t want to give it away.

There are over 5.5 million Yahoo Groups. At one point over 115 million Yahoo Groups users. Verizon is deleting over 18 years of the shared contributions and history of millions of people. They are only allowing 6 weeks  for the download and rescue of our files, photos, and memories. Verizon’s automated data download tool has been broken since Nov 3 and users are getting blank data or incomplete data. 

Yesterday Verizon blocked the Archive Team* that has undertaken a heroic effort to save as many public Yahoo Groups they can find. That block is now cascading down to individual moderators and uses...we’re unable to login, downloads are failing and we’re seeing more and more  “The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error”  

The solution to this is simple - offer more time to allow 100+ million people time and space to access Yahoo’s servers in a controlled manner.

Like millions of others this week, I duly dropped in on Madonna’s Instagram to see what all the fuss was about. The Patron Saint of Conical Bras had caused uproar in certain quarters with her semi-naked bathroom/kitchen/whatever selfie. She has form in semi-naked selfies, so I was expecting a shocker.

There are many different ways to age in 2020 – and that’s our great good fortune. Let Madonna do it her way, while you and I do it ours. And remember, censoriousness is very ageing.

By the way, the rest of her Instagram is entertaining in a good way - a mix of old and new music videos, often reframed with contemporary political commentary from Madonna‘s mouthy commentary. You may not agree with her but she’s more considered and interesting than the average droning celeb. To be honest, I was never a big Madonna fan in her heyday, but this week she won a new convert.
