this has probably been pointed out already and also there are other reasons why the handling of razlo in stargaze is absolutely inexcusable, but i think in particular giving razlo a line that parallels what chapel was telling wolfwood when he was threatening to kill melanie and the children was. a choice. like this is the scene from the show, and this is the panel/dialogue i'm pretty sure it's referencing:
throughout this fight, we're meant to get the sense that livio and razlo are not really the "true" enemies: chapel is. because chapel has taken advantage of livio and of razlo and groomed them into being almost entirely dependent on him. chapel way later in this fight tries killing razlo right before he dies, and razlo sees this and just. cries. because from his perspective, chapel is the only person who's ever cared about him, and this act of betrayal hurts him so so deeply. and in presenting that conflict, the story is trying to tell you "hey, razlo's not the enemy here, it's chapel for leveling this type of psychological warfare against this struggling boy."
now that the show's ended and razlo did not make another appearance after this fight, it's safe to say i think that in writing razlo to mirror the person who abused and groomed him to be a weapon the goal was to make him into another "evil alter" stereotype. or at least that's what i think it was. at Best you can call it tone deaf, but i don't know how you can be familiar with the manga and have read through this fight and come out of it thinking that writing razlo to be more like chapel would be a good idea.

During “blood sweat and tears” Taekook theatrically hip thrusts, super amused. Jk then hip thrusts while Tae watches on, enjoying Jk’s as he laughs. He then does his own hip thrusts, which also makes Jk laugh. I really love this sequence. Their happiness is so infectious.

Taekook lay on floor, though Jk is quick to get up to watch Tae while smiling on.

And another moot captured this adorable moment! Jk makes Tae laugh so hard he collapses for a moment. Tae proceeds to try to make Jk laugh as he sings, and Jk follows up and does the same.

Jk exchanges a huge laugh with Hobi as members laugh at Tae’s English “fucking good” comment. Jk laughs so hard and it’s hard not to smile when you watch the clip. He’s so amused he proceeds to pat his hand on his thigh as he laughs.

Jk laughing as the wind blows Tae’s hood down. Tae sees his reaction and starts laughing too.

Isn’t this picture so telling? Ah, my heart. I’m so happy they’re happy 💓
I am once again upset that Romeo and Juliet adaptations forget Paris exists and so he's like the only character who hasn't undergone major reimaginings/readaptations because like.
He stands to benefit from EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN THE PLAY
Paris is about to take over his house, basically take over the Capulets, AND the only other hair to a comparably powerful house has been exiled after indirectly getting the only threat to Paris's claim to the throne killed
You can totally do an adaptation where everything that happens is the result of Paris's manipulations and he gets fucked over because his Light Yagami-ass planning didn't account for the situation where Romeo fucking murders him because he and Juliet are already married.
Hey, I don’t even know who to ask this, but I’ve been really curious about something. Why do certain Tumblr users get early screeners?
I understand the logic when it comes to reviewers, critics, or even YouTube reactors. They need time to create content so everything is ready when the season officially releases. That makes sense to me from a marketing perspective.
What I don’t really understand is the point of giving screeners to popular Tumblr users, especially when they usually can’t openly discuss or reveal anything anyway. In my opinion, it kind of hurts fandom engagement instead of helping it. If the most active people in the fandom suddenly have to go quiet and stop theorizing, it creates this weird void in the community. Do you know what I mean?
I’m not even talking about the spoiler leak risk. It just feels like it kills speculation and discussion, which are usually a huge part of fandom culture. And compared to professional reviewers, it doesn’t seem especially effective as marketing either. So… why do studios do it?
This might be a reflection of the fact that I've generally been in smaller fandoms than this one, but honestly, I've never been in a fandom where tumblr fans have gotten screeners simply for being, well, fans? The fans I've known who've gotten access have usually gotten so either because they write for certain fandom-adjacent sites (i.e. The Mary Sue), or because they weren't personally on the list for screeners, but knew someone who was and got access that way. AMC does seem more open to engaging this fandom beyond what's been traditionally the norm though, as we saw with Autumn's interviews, so I honestly don't know. I do think it's unusual though.
I also - - mm. Look, I've been offline most of today and have only really just been catching up on everything that's happened, so I could be speaking without all the context here, but just speaking for myself, to me, fandom is inherently about community and shared experiences of art and story. There are ways to air episodes early that nurtures that within fandom - AMC does that well typically with things like SDCC, and gosh, I think the 3.01 ep premiering with the live concert is an amazing way of doing that (even if I can't go, RIP me, haha), but sharing screeners to select fans, and those select fans choosing to drip feed information that even journalists aren't allowed to share, is frankly kind of the antithesis of that.
one honest conversation we have to have especially in tudor spaces, is the lack of accessibility to specific sources and documents, and how some 'scholars' on here will leverage their own accessibility and privilege over others who cannot afford or access first hand documents, books, letters, etc. elitism is very common in tudor spaces and I've come across it.
i remember that popular anne boleyn blogger saying that i was 'spreading historical misinformaion' because the sources i used were second hand scholalry sources that also had first hand letters as well. in discussing anne boleyn's actions and attitude toward mary, i referenced an article where tracy borman was interviewed and also another article from a reputable source that linked back to first hand materials. i did this because i don't have access to first hand letters, material, etc., i am not in a position to afford them at this point because in many cases those are expensive and hidden behind paywalls (and then when i did present a letter from chapuys, one that mary herself never actually refuted and there were claims to back it, i was told i was being biased. and yes i know chapuys is bias but many of the claims he made about how mary was treated came from mary's mouth, and she never disputed those herself)
luckily i've actually found hmm ways to obtain some of the books and sources i've wanted for specific figures, but the point is the need to completely ruin someone's credibility or start slander campagins against them because they are not as privileged as you as an issue that I've seen go on in Tudor spaces for years.
And the funny thing is there are historians with doctorates, masters, etc., who spend YEARS studying, who make youtube accounts, tiktok, etc., with their credientials and published books who will have some of the most one sided, misinformed takes that make it to popular media.
idk the point is that, accessibility and lack of it is a real, actual thing. and when it comes down to it, sources, even first hand sources, letters, etc., can be disputed and marred with bias. especially if we're talking about certain anne boleyn and elizabeth i scholars who only get into history, academia, tudor research solely for those two and only look at positive sources and depictions of them. (i've literally seen some elizabethan scholars who WENT to school argue that mary i was never made to serve as a lady in elizabeth's household and if they finally agree they say it was a great honor).
of course, someone going to school and spending years of research is going to have merit, as well as those who are privileged enough to obtain first hand sources.
but people on here getting sources from researchers, historians, historical documents, books on specific figures, etc., are not any less serious or any less valid in our research. and we are not spreading misinformation because you don't like that anne boleyn historically didn't like mary i and took joy in anne shelton mistreating mary.
more so the elitism needs to stop
Truth is so rare, it is delightful to tell it.
