They’re both FANTASTIC horses 😭 I LOVE Tempest’s rambunctiousness and Blackjack’s sass! I love the fact that Tempest isn’t technically horse but likes presenting as one, and the scene in BOO where we see Blackjack again did heartbreaking things to me!

They’re both such good horses and belong to amazing half-bloods UGHHH

For the sake of the challenge, I’ll go with Blackjack. NOT because I don’t like Tempest (I just got down talking about how much both are) but because Blackjack is funny, his dynamic with Percy is beautiful and we know him better and for longer than we know Tempest.

BlackJack finding Tempest in the back of the stables.

The other was usually snsrky, quick witted. Generally unflappable and a professional guy.

"Temp? Hey, Temp what's wrong man?"

None of that could be seen now.

Tempest's eyes were wide.

Haunted.

There was dried blood on his neck but no injury in sight.

"He's gone..."

Tears welled up in the storm spirit's eyes, he did nothing to stop them falling.

"My boy... He's..."

BlackJack lowered his wings sadly, walking over and wrapping them around him.

It said a lot Tempest didn't shrug him off.

And instead cried harder.

"One of the greatest storm spirit's, son of Borea himself and I couldn't..."

BlackJack couldn't find the words to say. All he could do was listen.

And remind himself that his boss was safe.

"And he told me, he told me to get them to safety and not look back... I went because that girl said to check on him... But all I found was his body."

BlackJack thought of Jason Grace, of his bright smile that made Percy grin.

He thought of finding his body, he felt a chill run down his spine.

Tempest sagged beside him and BlackJack held him close, reminding him he wasn't alone.

He reminded himself Percy wasn't alone either... He hoped he wouldn't be when the news broke.

BlackJack made a note to go to him when Tempest tired himself out.

He knew the rest of the pegasi would look after him.

The life of a demigod was never a happy one, but to lose your own boss...

Was something BlackJack wouldn't wish on anyone.

It was a greif that could not be named.

But very much felt like losing a child and a friend.

Tempest sobbed for the boy he lost and BlackJack felt his own tears fall.

Oh Jason Grace... Never let it be known that you were not loved.

i feel like we really skipped over the whole “venti can appear as either humans or horses” thing. Jason’s horse could be a person if it really wanted to be. Like, that’s a thing. That it is capable of doing. It can just turn into a person at any time. WHAT.
