Reki being at his lowest, engaging in literal self harming behavior by finding comfort in being physically hurt, but being immediately pulled out of his spiral after hearing that Shadow is in the hospital.

The Found Family was strong in this one. Shadow immediately pulling up to drive Cherry to the hospital. Reki running to hospital after hearing Shadow was hurt, remember that they were like mortal enemies in the first episode. I mean, everyone dropped what they were doing to visit Cherry in the hospital.

Realistic depiction of mental health- Reki engages in reckless and selfish behavior that hurts his loved ones (Miya). We aren’t made to pity him for that, his mental health is not an excuse to hurt others. He’ll have to apologize to Miya, be held accountable for his actions.

Hiromi wanting to use skating to become strong and prove to himself that he’s worthy enough to ask his manager out on a date. But ultimately Hiromi doesn’t need to prove himself through ADAM’s tournament, because he proves he’s strong enough on his own.

Reki’s whole interaction with Tadashi talking about skating as a thinly veiled metaphor for Love, basically translating to, “Love is difficult to get right; it takes time and hard work and even after all that, you still might get your heart broken. But it’s still worth building those meaningful relationships with others anyway.”

This episode’s focus on “returning to your roots”:

Langa finally processing the death of his father and how much it hurt him, how it leads him to realizing how much Reki means to him.

Langa and the viewers getting a glimpse of Reki’s beginnings and Reki being reminded of the progress he’s made, how important skating is to him, and why he became a skater in the first place.

Reki and Langa making up in the Skate Park where they both first learned how to skate and where they landed their first ollies.

The symbolism of the Infinity Sign:

Reki and Langa’s skating between the quarter pipes being a literal shape of an infinity sign- I got major courtship dance vibes from that.

Reki and Langa both metaphorically and literally meeting in the middle to make up with one another.

“Can I talk a bit more?” --> A callback to that whole bit about Reki saying that Langa can’t land a job because he doesn’t talk enough. Langa has probably always been a quiet person, but even more so after the death of his dad. His relationship with Reki gives him a reason to “talk more” meaning that skating with Reki was probably a really important part of Langa finding new meaning after such a traumatic loss.

The growing parallels between Reki/Langa and Adam/Tadashi and how the basis for Reki and Langa’s reconciliation could foreshadow the resolution between Tadashi and Adam -> the whole “returning to your roots” thing.

10. If you were King/Queen and had to choose one character to be your Hand, one to be your Lord Commander, and one to be your consort, who would you choose?

I’d pick Margaery as my Hand, Jon as my Lord Commander and Arya as my consort. Putting Margaery that close to the throne is a risk I’ll admit, but the Arya/Jon combo ensures that as long as I stay on Arya’s good side no one will ever usurp me because Jon will go berserk if anyone tries to pull any funny business and it endangers Arya.
