Literally! If Pema were so confident that she and Tenzin were soulmates, as she claimed to Korra, she wouldn't feel insecure every time they interacted. And it's truly petty and disrespectful to foist her child on her like that, knowing full well that Lin never wanted to take care of a child in her life. It's like she's marking her territory and reminding everyone why Lin and Tenzin aren't together anymore. Again, the issue of children. And please, stop trying to justify her behavior with excuses like that.
Pema's behavior stems from a dynamic that has existed for years. It has nothing to do with her being pregnant. I'm fed up with people making excuses for her childish behavior.
Lin Beifong got told to get over her problems with people so they could complain about her to HER! She got told to be the bigger person by everyone who hurt her she could’ve been the antagonist and I still would’ve chose her side. She is the bigger person. And she shouldn’t be called a bitch for knowing that and distancing herself from the assholes who hurt her. Period.

Tenlin Kid Headcanons
I have… many thoughts about a kid between those two <.< >.> Sorry this took so long, I hope you don’t mind that I went with headcanons! TY for the request! <3
-Navigation- | -Lok Masterlist-
-Lin didn’t really want a kid… at all. Very conveniently for her, Y/n ends up being an airbender so that kinda makes them not her problem.
-Which is a little harsh but, it is what it is.
-Y/n was born blind- but not being an earthbender they couldn’t learn seismic sense to help them. So they did one better and developed seismic sense but for airbending.
-Airbenders typically already have a weak sense of this, being able to sense increased wind rates around them and determine an attack in their blind spot but Y/n does this on a much larger level.
-They’re a good bit older than their siblings, I’d say around Mako’s age, and we’re the only one of the airbender kids who got to meet Aang- Even if they don’t remember it :’)
-While they’re relationship with Lin is pretty much non existent, they’re very close with Tenzin
-Before having Jinora, Ikki and Meelo with Pema, he would take them on those fun airbending trips that Aang took him on.
-Now I’m not saying Tenzin sometimes forget his own kid is blind but-
-”Look Y/n, there's the Unagi.” “Wow! Awesome! You know what would make this even better, Dad?” “What?” “If I could look.”
-It’s kind of a similar situation to how the Gaang was with Toph, it’s just a thing that slips everyone's minds
-Though on the flip side he can be very doting about it
-”Be careful there's a-” “I know, Dad.” “Watch out for that-” “I know, Dad.” “Do you need help getting-” “No, Dad.”
-There is no in-between
-Honestly Pema, Lin and Toph are probably the only people who dont forget about it sometimes. Jinora, Mako and Asami are pretty good about it thought, just have the occasional slip up.
-”Did you see-” “No.”
-Y/n gives everyone a hard time about it, but it doesn’t actually bother them.
-It’s not really a secret that Lin is their mother, but no one really questions it.
-Until Korra shows up- She questions it
-Her and Mako are like ‘wait a minute’ and put the pieces together pretty quickly.
-One day Korra is practicing airbending with Y/n and is not so casually like “Soooo… Lin.” and they’re just confused “What about Lin?”
-Korra isn’t even subtle about it and blurts out “She’s your mom, right?!”
-They’re very casually like “Yeah” and continue on with their training. “Oh but don’t tell her or my Dad I know, they don’t know I figured it out yet.”
-Lin totally knows they figured it out, but Tenzin really does have no idea
after, she had trouble sleeping alone- so she spent her nights at the station.
after, she lost her appetite for a few weeks. surviving on coffee and cigarettes.
after, she stopped talking to her friends. not like she really had any that weren’t his too.
after, she drank a bit too much. because if she was blackout drunk she didn’t dream about him.
after, she spent a lot of time in the gym- taking her frustrations out on the rocks.
after, she didn’t look in the mirror too much. nothing important to see there.
after, her work seemed to go slower. putting clues together felt harder, she moved slower on the street, like walking through quicksand.
after, she cried silently at random times. when she smelled sandalwood, when she felt a breeze, or when she walked by one of their frequented restaurants.
after tenzin, she wasn’t sure she would ever love again.
👀 so someone else has probably already brought this up, but was a major factor in tenzin and lin's breakup the fact that with his dad now dead, tenzin was the last airbender and he wanted and/or felt obligated to have kids that were at least direct descents of airbenders, if not airbenders themselves, but by that time lin did not want kids and/or could have been more likely to have earthbending children and/or may have been able to have kids at that point??
I'm stunned by the way people act like what Pema did is normal. Imagine you've been in a relationship for years and some girl basically comes along and declares her feelings to your guy, claiming she can give him what you can't. You're not going to tell me that's okay, are you? No matter how much the situation between Lin and Tenzin was destined to end because Tenzin's love for Lin wasn't compatible with his duty, that didn't give Pema the right to offer herself up as a potential option. You don't do that with someone who's in a relationship. And don't tell me that's not what she did. She literally explained it that way to Korra herself. Pema and Tenzin's relationship is so contrived. He was literally only with her because he knew she would carry his children before any other kind of feeling. Go ahead and tell me otherwise.
