Tenna is literally like your 2nd or somewhere in your top 5 teachers in highschool who’s engaging and great at his job but off-putting and says the most out of pocket shit and his students respect him as a person but not his authority which leads to the inevitable Angry Outburst your teacher has when they’re exasperated/at their wits end by that one student or students that decided to take it too far on an already shitty day. ​

That and he’s that one teacher who talks about his ex wife at the most inopportune moments during a lesson like he’s possessed by the spirit of every divorced HS Sports Coach forced to teach a class.

He still loves his ex-wife.

I feel like fanon has Spamton and Tenna’s personalities switched bc one is big and the other small but Spamton is very Straightforward about how he feels internally and about the people around him whereas Tenna while also boisterous and generally expressive is also pretty reserved/restrictive about his internal feelings (but if Tenna doesn’t like someone he will make it known lmao). While it’s fairly simple to interpret his feelings at points during ch3 that doesn’t mean he’s explicit about his displeasure to others. He’s more likely to be sarcastic or snarky about his more negative feelings when with the fun gang. His excitement is the only emotion explicitly stated and presented (and even then it’s kinda undercut by immense dread given the only time a flower blooms from his nose I think is toward the every end of his chapter). Hell, his whole implosion would seemingly come from no where if you don’t read into his barely restrained unease and frustration.

A lot of the Hell Board is him trying to convince himself things are “normal” despite everything being on fire lmao. I didn’t notice until like recently but even his battle sprite has his left(?) arm vibrate once he closes that fist and his face makes that fucked up smile (my fav smile :D). When the pippins run up in his house like the tomb raider and rob his shit he’s literally just vibrating with anger.

Ig bc recency bias and the fact that Spamton’s scenes amount to like 30 minutes out of the 3+ hours of ch 2 content whereas Tenna is 75% of Chapter 3 the perceptions of their emotionality and general personalities get warped.

I conceptualize this as a fucked up inversion of quintessential Stoic Man who bottles his emotions except rage bc that isn’t considered an emotional response in men. Tenna embodies that but like the opposite where frustration, anger and genuine depression aren’t expressed in full and are covered up with joyousness and excitement even if one or both of those things aren’t really felt in full. The stoic man can express feelings like guilt depression and most importantly Rage because those expressions in men aren’t “Emotional”

Sadness is weird bc he shows it in a comedic context at the beginning and then it progressively seeps through the chapter even through fairly comedic sequences until it comes to a head toward the end. He mostly fails to bottle things in like the Stoic Man but in a strange inverted emulation still he tries to suppress his negative feelings with positive ones.

It’s like he wraps his most vulnerable moments and feelings into a performance of sorts internationally or unintentionally. The moments where he thinks he’s alone with his thoughts are where his distress is muted and understated.
