SEEN TEN SECOND EPIC CONCERT TONIGHT. :) I am very happy I got to see my favourite band on their last tour ever and it was the first time seeing them since 2008. Very sad though that they will no longer be a band going on tours.
Twelve years later and Ten Second Epic is still epic (haha) 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 ----------------------------------- #tensecondepic #cmw2014 #blackbox #stillnotold (at Adelaide Hall)

So, I was on the bus today, minding my own business, listening to Mumford and Sons over the conversation chatter when something catches my attention.
Person A: "I hate live music. Studio music is so much better."
Person B: "What's studio music?"
Person A: "The songs without all the clapping and mistakes in them."
Uh.. uh.. EXCUSE ME?
I hate it when people say stuff like this because they're saying that music is supposed to be perfect all the time and that musicians have to be infallible when this is just not the case.
Do they really think music was born out of recording studios making sure that everyone was on time and that there was no improvisation in the vocals?
Seriously? Do they? Do they think Beethoven composed all his great symphonies behind a switch board to make sure the brass instruments came in on time and if they didn't he could fix it?
Do they think he wasn't a great musician because he couldn't do that?
Do they think he would of if he was given the chance? Because I don't.
Those "mistakes" are what make a song good and a musician great. If you can go see a band play live and walk away impressed then they're doing it right. If you go see a band play and get nothing but the carbon-copy of the song you have on your computer at home then that's not a good show.
I remember when I went to see Ten Second Epic in March 2012 when they were playing in Fredericton. I've been in love with these guys since I was 15 and this was the first time I had seen them live. To this day, I still can't find the words to describe how much better they are live than their studio stuff is. When they started playing "Old Habits Die Hard" I almost started crying because it was that good.
The listener gets a personality from these live shows that is normally hidden underneath auto-tuning and alternations given to a song before releasing it. That personality is worth a hell of a lot more than anything that might come out of a recording studio after working for hours on a song.
I'll admit, a lot of recordings of live songs aren't the best quality and don't sound the greatest when they come on your iPod. But a hell of a lot more are good quality and I would much rather listen to those songs over anything altered in a studio to sound perfect.
Urg. Anyway, rant over.

Ten Second Epic - Another Density.
This band and this band mostly reminds me of Edmonton.
