ARTIST FOCUS DAY 9: Zovi

Welcome to Day 9 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about New York's whimsical experimentalist, @noisedragon.

In the artist's words: "Zovi makes a wide range of music from techno pop to theatrical industrial to prog rock influenced experimental electronic. Her music often includes fantastical narratives and equally fantastical genre fusions. Expect gabber kicks, rave stabs, pipe organs, kazoos, cursed princesses, dragons, puppets, and more!"

In our words: For the very first RAVESPELLBOOK, we knew who we wanted to be our first guest. Her projects like "The True Triangle" and "I LOVE MY PLUSHIES A LOT" were experimental, challenging, and incredibly entertaining. But more importantly, they perfectly captured what we wanted to do with our fledgling show. What she turned in was 45 minutes of brand new ambient work that was part of an upcoming project for her. It immediately set the tone we wanted: that this is a place where ANYTHING can happen, one that truly values electronic music's artistic potential. We're excited to see how she closes our night out -- especially since she's been uploading even more of her discog to her YouTube channel.

ARTIST FOCUS Day 7: Faith in the Glitch

Welcome to Day 7 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about the aesthetically charged cyberpunker Faith in the Glitch.

In the artist's words: "Faith in the Glitch is a Replicant sent from the future of 1989. Their mission? To terminate dance floors before they're able to attain sentience and destroy humanity. By blending the sounds of synthwave with weaponized industrial bass, dancers are able to get to 88 miles per hour and go back to the future, where a cyberpunk dystopia awaits. Time is an illusion. Reality is fragile. Have faith in the glitch, and dance like your life depends on it. BECAUSE IT DOES."

In our words: If you didn't catch it yet, Faith in the Glitch is the very essence of cyberpunk in DJ form. Willing to boil his mixes in a fine broth of retro tropes and science fiction, he creates fully immersive experiences. But don't be fooled by the bright colors, as he's not afraid to mix in dark and thumping industrial or heavy and techy drum n bass. Faith in the Glitch is another multi-genre weapon you won't want to miss.

ARTIST FOCUS DAY 7: Mesmerist

Welcome to Day 7 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about frequent collaborator and accomplished remixer, @wearemesmerist.

In the artist's words: "Mesmerist is a stray pink cat who talks about their fandom for Toby Fox, Porter Robinson, Madeon, Persona 5, Sonic The Hedgehog, and My Hero Academia, as well as the fact that they somehow got a Bachelor's in Physics, to an annoying degree. Tune in to their multi-genre set for a mix of good music, bad music, and 'music' that's pretty much just noise."

In our words: If anyone should promote themselves a little bit more strongly, it'd be Mesmerist, but we feel the above paragraph is just their style. Mes is very much a meta-driven DJ that takes everything about the performance art form and aims to subvert it. From con sets done in cosplay, to politically charged URL sets, to DJing while being trapped in the basement, there is no such thing as "expectations" around Mesmerist... except, of course, for expecting a really good time.

ARTIST FOCUS DAY 6: PandaTron

Welcome to Day 6 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about the hybrid EDM DJ force that is PandaTron.

In the artist's words: "PandaTron may be a panda but he's got the brain of a husky, this mish-mash of parts calls the land of spinny wind his home (Kansas). He's relatively new to the scene with him djing mostly on VRC and in real life as well slowly making impacts in the URL world."

In our words: PandaTron impressed us last summer with an absolutely slamming set in Indianapolis. Since then, he's been a name we've kept up with, thanks to his time on the burgeoning VRChat DJ circuit. PandaTron was on the latest RAVESPELLBOOK episode and brought an amazing and energetic dubstep set, but who knows what he'll bring to the festival, as he's proven to be as versatile as anyone.

ARTIST FOCUS DAY 5: Riku Namako

Welcome to Day 5 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about the electro house gothic lolita, @rikunamako.

In the artist's words: "The cute one. 青空のナイフ. Purveyor of Weeb House (House music for weebs), DJ Riku Namako has been repping the otaku club scene since 2011, spinning at major conventions like Colossalcon, Dokidokon, and Matsuricon. Known for dropping the perfect mix of video game, anime, and club EDM tracks, Riku Namako is sure to take the party to the next level."

In our words: Riku Namako has done nothing but wow us for years now. It's almost impossible that she has ever dropped a bad mix. Taking everything from track selection to transition to visuals to even her on-stage persona, and putting it in a blender, to create a smoothie of awesomeness that other DJs could only hope to sip from. Riku has been a part of our community since it started... and we're incredibly thankful for that.

ARTIST FOCUS DAY 4: DJ Reflection

Welcome to Day 4 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about our resident Pokémon master, DJ Reflection.

In the artist's words: "DJ Reflection, started djing in 2013, and has dj'd at a few anime conventions. Now she mainly DJ's for online events and in Final Fantasy XIV."

In our words: DJ Reflection is underselling herself in her bio -- she's far more accomplished.

DJ4x took her under his wing all the way back in 2013 when she was still doing MapleStory Radio. She had a real interest in the con rave scene and in the exploding EDM sound that was taking everything by storm. She's now been everywhere you've seen weeb EDM DJs, from regional cons to a residency on 7DS Pirate Radio to now playing events in FFXIV and even picking up Affiliate status on Twitch earlier this year. Most recently, she played the massive FFXIV TransFest, dropping an energetic DnB set to 100+ viewers live on her stream. Reflection is a DJ with a memorable past -- and an exciting future.

ARTIST FOCUS DAY 3: Ocebot

Welcome to Day 3 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about the robotic multigenre threat, @ocebotdj .

In the artist's words: "50% ocelot, 40% robot, and 10% entirely misused toaster parts. Hailing from Westland, Michigan, Ocebot has been tearing up the urlfest/con scene for 12 years. Known for delivering dubstep heaters on the regular, he’s also got a knack for throwing in unexpected genre curveballs just to keep everyone on their toes. This upcoming set is definitely a departure that he hopes you look forward to."

In our words: We met Ocebot so long ago that we couldn't even tell you when it happened. He's now a frequent co-conspirator on events both URL and IRL. He approaches DJing the same way we do, with an attention to detail that makes every microsecond unmissable. Cerebral, fun, and unafraid to experiment, Ocebot is someone we're psyched to have on the lineup.

TERMINALSPACES ARTIST FOCUS DAY 2: SHADOWSENSE

Welcome to Day 2 of our ARTIST FOCUS series, where we talk about the creators we have brought on for TERMINALSPACES. Today, we're talking about Toledo's own electronic sensation @shadowsense.

In the artist's words: "Shadowsense's journey began in 2011 after discovering electronic music via a random post he made on Facebook in which he asked "who are some techno artists I should listen to?" It all went uphill from there. With influences rooted in alt rock, heavy metal, and video games, they began their quest to bring their strange visions to the world. Well over a decade later, he's proven nothing will stop him...except the heat death of the universe, probably."

In our words: Shadowsense has been a great part of the community for years and years. He's only improved over that time, building a small but dedicated international following. From his Ohio-themed and video game flavored production work, to his sets that feature as much original production (and as many IDs) as any mainstage DJ, to his chill and amusing visuals. Shadowsense is an artist with heart and passion, and you never quite know what he's going to bring to the mixer next.
