thinking about Travis Valkrum again

imagine your only surviving family member is your dad who can’t even be the dad he wants to because there’s a goddamn demon possessing him that hates you, meaning that the nice girl you met in high school who vowed to be your friend so you two weren’t alone was quite literally the only reason you weren’t completely alone anymore. And of course when a guy a little older than you with the social skills of an alpha male podcaster starts trying to teach you how to flirt you’re gonna stick around, as unintentionally bad of an influence as he is, because who else do you have to turn to? Your dad acts strict and mean out of nowhere but at least this kid can act as a friend and mentor. And then you’ve been shaped into someone completely unlike the person you once were mistaking ignorant confidence for some kind of charm or charisma. You can’t hold a healthy relationship, only getting a second chance with the love of your life as part of a fake-dating charade as part of a lie towards your suddenly unequivocally loving dad. And as you start to lose the gross act over the years, learning from your mistakes, and become the kind, caring kid you once were, you get a taste of family before the same GODDAMN DEMON of all things that you now know stole your childhood steals your dad’s life as he tries to at the very least accompany you so you don’t die alone, has you steal the souls of hundreds of people temporarily, kills and injures people you love or their loved ones, objectifies and turns your girlfriend (and good friend) into a soldier, has that same girl from highschool be driven to stabbing you literally in the back, causes your witch friend to lose her magic, causes your other friend to go blind and lose all memories of people he loved, and this all happens in front of your eyes and you can’t stop it because now he’s possessing you. And now you’re the last member of not just your family but your entire bloodline. And you’ll never know that you were meant to be the reincarnation of yourself who was given a second chance. Because in another life centuries ago you and your mother sacrificed everything— your freedom, your acceptance, a chance at community— to stop the same demon that would outlive and plague your family despite everything you gave. All your mother wanted was for you to be free. She died for that. You didn’t want to wield a relic, you didn’t want to scare anyone. You just wanted to protect them and do good, even if it took a toll on you socially, mentally, and physically. And yet despite it all, you were always doomed to be lonely and filled with guilt and grief you were never at fault for because of the demon whose last name you carry. You’re finally free of him, but the burden he placed upon you may take the rest of your lifetime to heal.

Still, that nice girl is there healing with you. Maybe you’re destined to be lonely, but when it comes to people who love you, family by blood or not, you won’t be alone.

TERRY IS A FUCKING TRAGEDY

Guys entire bloodline was hunted down and murdered. He spends his whole life in fear and ALSO having his autonomy stripped away from him. Guy was probably terrified that he never knew when hed be in the backseat or what his body would do.

Oh and yknow his poor wife or something probably DIED and was probably the rock in his horror movie of a life. AND he was left to raise Travis alone

Mans was most definitely terrified for his child at all times. It wasnt his life on the line anymore he has a little human baby he has to protect by abiding the whims of that warlock dickhead. And then THWERES THE EXPERIMENTS, did he know Travis was being experimented on?? or did he find out after the fact?

First case scenario his child is going through this and there is virtually nothing he can do to save him

Second case scenario, he finds out afterwards and is horrified at what happened right under his nose. He thought if he did as told, and didnt stand in his way, the demon warlock wouldnt hurt his kid. But no.

He definitely knows huis child is not getting the stability and care he needs to thrive. Cause half the time his daddy is a cold, narcissistic bastard, and the other half of the time, hes extremely affectionate and spoils the shit out of him

I MEAN CAN U BLAME TERRY???? THE GUILT HE FELT. OFC HE SPOILED HIS POOR BABY

Legit no stability for EITHER of them

And then at the end of the day. He sacrifices himself. Taking on the responsibility for the Demon Warlock's actions and making sure he is dealt with for good. He died with the being that etched the fear and torment into his entire life. Never getting freedom, or true autonomy. And for the last few days, where he did have a sort of freedom, he didn't get to enjoy it, because his son was now living the agony he had so desperately tried to shield him from.

He doesn't get to say goodbye, or live long enough to gain any sort of peace. He just dies.

Family reactions to pregnancy announcement

Zane-chan

Family dinner

Zianna: She is very happy to be a grandma and hugs Kc and Zane and makes the entire dinner about them . She will do the same dance she when she found out Zane and Kawaii-chan were dating. She starts to make homemade blankets for the baby or babies

Garte: Is shocked.

Garroth: Starts crying of happiness and screams about becoming an uncle and immediately hugs Kc, then Zane ( squeezes the life out of zane ) . He immediately goes to Amazon and looks at toys and clothes.

Vylad: Is shocked but happy and finds cute little pjs and shoes. Makes a personal stuffed animal for the baby/babies . Is the cool uncle you rarely see, but always takes you on a crazy adventure

Aarmau

Silvana: She is happy about becoming a grandmother and makes cute clothes for the baby. Makes desserts for Aaron and Aphmau and buys way to many clothes and toys for one person.

Eric ( Because yes ) : Is very happy for Aaron and Aphmau. Makes cupcakes for a dinner celebration . Buys a couple of toys for the baby.

Katelyn: Immediately screams in excitement and hugs aphmau . Her and aphmau talk baby things all night

Derek and Rachel : Dead but happy in heaven

Melissa: Hugs aphmau and talks about how excited she is. She buys everything for Aaron and Aphmau. The crib, formulas, changing table, etc . She sends baby room ideas to Aaron and Aphmau

Travlyn

Eric: Eric is very happy about becoming a grandfather and makes strawberry puffs for Katelyn and her cravings. Has a man to man talk about raising a family and becoming a father.

Silvana: She is happy for Katelyn and Travis and buys cute little toys and clothes with Travis. She helps Eric with the strawberry puffs.

Kacey : He is shocked but happy for his sister . He talks to Katelyn about what he can help with and buy . He is very nervous about his sister's health.

Katelyns other brothers: Their very happy about becoming uncles, but they try and kill Travis for impregnating their sister .

Terry : He is dead but very excited.

The valkrums have ‘pinky pie’ hair. It’s curly whenever they are.. normal. And when they get possessed it goes straight and sad!

I wish there were more Travis and Terry moments in the series, or more of the entire family dynamic. They seem to have been slightly distant before the main season, but I wish there was more scenes for them since Travis's bond with his dad should've been a special one knowing the circumstances. The series really hits it with the scenes they do have, and I wished there was more understanding with Terry. The scenes with them being silly meanwhile the scenes with Travis talking to him when dead was one of the best contrasts with family I have seen in this show in my opinion. I would love to see more of how their connection was before the events of season 5 and 6.
