Famous Geisha Teruha
HiiI! It's me again, I ask you a lot of questions. I recently stumbled upon a geisha who has an interesting story. I read her wikipedia page however... That didn't cover enough for me. In r/Geisha I found some information that she has an autobiography? Could you mabye give me a better insight of who she was? Her name is Chishō Takaoka! ^^
Hello again, Anon o/ Japanese Wikipedia has a full list of her five autobiographies. I doubt any of those were translated to English, but if you can read Japanese (opposed to me), it shouldn't be a problem for you!

“Every time I look back over my past, I’m seized with a sense of hatred and disgust. There were so many times when I gave myself over to sexual desire, was drunk with liqueur, and led a wild and arrogant life.”

Geisha Teruha
She was born in Osaka in 1896. Her real name was Tatsuko Takaoka. It is unclear how, or under what circumstances she made her way to Tokyo, but at the age of 13, after a brief training period, she became a Shimbashi Tokyo Geisha, and took the name Teruha, (Ter-rue-ha), which means "Shining Leaf".
