I'm trying *so hard* to play the first Witcher game.

How does it feel 10x more dated than TES: Oblivion, which came out a year earlier????

(okay yes the answer is probably "Dae you just have several hundred hours in Oblivion and have had 20 years to integrate it into your internal sense of How Games Work" but still.)

My child is a huge fan of "Oblivion" game. And he got a dream to play not just a character, but a goblin, who sit in a cave and fry rat.

Okay so I keep having this thought about the Dark Brotherhood Oblivion quest line and just...how much better it could have been. It was good don't get me wrong but the ending itself was just...lackluster?? Like we get the dramatic traitor reveal...and it's some guy we don't even know???

So like here's what I propose. I think it would have been so much better if we actually got to meet and befriend Mathieu Bellamont before the events that take place in the Night Mother's tomb. Like it would have made the ending so much more painful to know that not only was your dear mentor slain in cold blood but that you were forced to slay someone who you thought was a friend, who you thought was family. Like you already had to go through the purification, but now you had to slay the one friend you had remaining, who has it turned out was using you for your naivety.

At least I think it would have been better.

bay is the absolute worst crybaby when it comes to video games: part 1

so i'm playing oblivion for the first time and i join the dark brotherhood because i heard lucien lachance in skyrim and he was beautiful and had the voice of a cello made flesh (plus i love playing assassins)

and so i get really attached to my "family" members and love them very much

and then the purification happens

like i shoot everyone with arrows because i couldn't bear to get close to them and i dropped sprigs of lavender next to everyone's bodies and i couldn't kill schemer because he's a cute baby rat and then when i tried to kill telaendril she caught me and was yelling at me "why sister why?" and i nearly lost it
