Located 35 miles south-southwest of Inkopolis, this small fortress-tower has a storied history. Fort Spirula was a small makeshift outpost far from Inkopolis built during the first half of the war. When Octarians began to invade from far out, Fort Spirula was usually the best line of defense, holding off the Octarians for a long time. With all seventeen attacks from the southern edge being fended off by the start of the war, Fort Spirula was known as "Strong Spirula" throughout its operational history. When the Octoling Elite Forces finally took this fort on, the Inkling soldiers inside sustained heavy losses. At least 30 Inklings died at the ink of over 45 Octolings advancing upon the fort. Lieutenant S. Longipes, a distant relative of the famed Captain Cuttlefish who had been commanding the fort's troops, was killed by a shot to the chest by an Octoling weapon. Only an hour and a half later did Captain Cuttlefish himself arrive, securing the fort and sending the Octolings running back. In the end, two Octolings were captured and 23 died, and the fort sustained 41 casualties, 32 of which were fatal. Since the end of the Great Turf War, Fort Spirula was decommissioned and deemed a historic site.
