im glad you asked!! no i havent posted this anywhere online yet, cause i didnt want to pack an art post full of lore that i wasnt even sure on yet lol. also i freaking love that that’s how you choose to address Ryu sdhfsndfk

the basic plot of the Evil Gear Au is of course, a resurgence of STEM usage causing problems and getting attention. around 2025~ Ryu and Raiden, during their vigilante escapades, discover events of mass comas in concentrated areas and start investigating - cause in their universe, mass mind control and such are definitely not unheard of.

their investigation leads them to Krimson City, which leads them to the Beacon Hospital Incident, which leads them to the only known survivor - Sebastian. and in hunting down Seb, since hes the only person they can find who would know anything on it, they find Archer and Joseph as well (as this all takes place about 8 years after the TEW3 au events).

their first meeting does not go well tho!! since mass comas are pretty weird its been on the news and such, which puts the whole group on edge, cause they have a sneaking suspicion as well. so when Ryu and Raiden show up on Seb’s doorstep, its not assumed to be a social call of any kind. Archer actually shoots Ryu in the head, but with being a full cyborg and all, it doesnt do much besides stun him, and freaks the hell out of Archer lol. thats what the comic on THIS post is!

from there they all decide to warily work together and share all the info they know, which does lead to finding the source, which is of course STEM - not certain if its Mobius or not! im leaning towards another group thats using the system themselves now considering the end of TEW2. what their reasons for doing so are, i do not know yet shfjkdf

unfortunately, during the course of the field operations, Ryu and Archer end up caught in the system as well via the frequency upload method, and are on their own for a good chunk of it. commence War Bonding or whatever its called when you develop deep camaraderie with fellow soldiers sfhdsjkf

and if youre curious, the only reason the two of them got paired up for operations was because despite how much Ryu grates on Archer (on purpose, cause hes a snot), hes still the one that can stand him the best sdjkfdsf. they go 50/50 on partnering up for trust/lack of such reasons, and Seb wins and gets Raiden as his partner instead of the goblin man. Joseph stays behind cause hes had ENOUGH STEM thank u
