Original Bumblebee’s stuck in the shatter glass universe where his bio dad, Megatron, is actually a cool dude and obviously nothing bad could come from this, right?

Right?

Pffftttt

Let’s talk SG Megatron for a second… his perspective is very different from OG Megatron. He knows in his universe that Goldbug and Cliffjumper are his children, he knows that they want nothing to do with him, that they hate him— they’ve been raised by Optimus and have adopted the majority of his views on things. They one hundred percent believe that Megatron betrayed them and their carrier in the end, or something like that. They’ve got a SG transformers one origin type beat, so I’m still fussing out the details…

But the point: Megatron knows they’re his kids and the guilt he feels at failing them is immense. He’s hates seeing what they’ve become, and he is very lenient with them, always trying to convince them that they can be better, do better, but it falls on deaf ears.

So when OG Bumblebee shows up?

It’s a can of worms.

Bumblebee is everything that Megatron hopes Goldbug can become. Realistically, logically, he knows that Bumblebee isn’t “his” kid— he’s from a different reality, etc… but like he is his kid. And he struggles with the dissonance between his reality and what could be… he loves Goldbug just as much as he loves Bumblebee, he has no desire to replace Goldbug in his heart, but it certainly comes off that way when he interacts with Bee.

And it’s kind of what he’s doing, because he has started to lose hope of Goldbug or Cliffjumper ever seeing his side of things.

It’s a mess and he’s supposed to the wiser adult in this situation, but damn is this hashing open old wounds and making already open ones deeper.

And further more, Megatron has been trying to move on with his life. Not from the war I mean, but accept that the love of his life isn’t who he thought he was, and getting over those old wounds. Perhaps he was starting to fall for another mech and this happens and fuck all the progress is just GONE—

And well… once Cliffjumper arrives, it will be a whole other mess.

Goldbug : Confession, Goldbug's always been one of my favorites. always wished he'd show up more, but noo. anyway. Yeah, Goldbug. honestly, my main design inspiration was his Battlegrounds look. of course, i have that skin pack, which was how i ever found out about Goldbug.

Chase : woo boy was he hard to figure out. in my head, i knew i wanted to blend his G1 Design with his RB Design, and even add some blue. but i assure, he is G1 Chase all the way in personality. i also took a bit of inspiration from his Titans Return figure as well.

Freeway: the thing about Freeway in IJ is how much i changed his personality, from one of those 'learn to take a joke that's not even funny or nice' guys to more of just a failed stand up comedian, who's jokes are sometimes crude. and this was just a simple misinterpretation of his bio, that when it said he saw himself as a comedian, i thought he was actually one. and the line about his jokes being the type that put others down was instead intepreted as 'oh, so his jokes can be on the crude side but everyone knows he means nothing by it.' boy was i wrong. nope, Canon Freeway is just one of those guys. anyway, i didn't want to retcon, so the initial different personality remained. the only real noteworthy thing about his design is that his chest is supposed to resemble a suit and tie.

Searchlight: i honestly just went with the flow of my mind and stylus on him, with just a few references of him. really liked how it turned out. i did almost forget his high beams (pft) though.

Rollbar: more modernized, added an actual Rollbar.

Wideload: i wanted to keep the mask, and give him more of a dump truck vibe i guess. i hate working with orange as a color.

I haven’t seen anyone comment on how Bee’s battle mask makes him look like his Goldbug redesign from the final season of the original cartoon.

I get it, Bee’s cute, yay he’s in the movie… but the possible implications of the Goldbug head, I’m really hoping it’s just an Easter Egg for us old farts and not a switcheroo.

We didn’t like it back in the eighties Hasbro, ain’t no one gonna like it now, enough with the Goldbug already. It ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
