So I wrote a little for my tf fic, its just a teeny scene. But ye basically little sneak peak of what the fic could be like. Hope you enjoy. :> "Sparking a Flame"
Shatterframe notes the silence in his hab which should normally make him feel at ease. For once, he has quiet, for once he was left alone and yet it leaves him with an eerie feeling like something is utterly wrong. At first, he simply chalks it up to him having grown too accustomed to always having either Ethos or Splitscreen around. But the restlessness won’t leave him even after the 4th day in a row. Shatter begins to take a look around. He knows Splitscreen isn’t on a mission, and she isn’t in the medbay either. No one seems to have seen her, which isn’t too strange as her standing with the other Autobots has taken a toll as of late. The rumors he heard on the other hand and the downright sneers he gets when he says her designation are not though. His pedesteps start to pick up, with a nervous energy surrounding him now as he scans corridors and rooms. The base's security system says she is on base and yet Splitscreen is nowhere she normally would be. She doesn’t react to his repeated pings either. Shatterframe is starting to run out of options.
At long last he finds her sitting in the dark cargo bay, seemingly hiding away from prying judgmental optics. As he steps closer he calls out to her but Splitscreen shows no sign of reacting to his presence. He crosses his arms, his fingertips tapping away in an annoyed nervous gesture. Shatter groans in frustration, crouching in front of Splitscreen.
„You gonna tell me why you are sitting in a dark cargo bay all by yourself while nobody knows where you are or do I have to drag the answer out of you?”
He had already noticed that Splitscreen would become quiet when she wasn’t around the other Autobots. Like a pretense that suddenly was no longer needed and fell away leaving something less behind. A stark contrast to the bubbly and talkative way she used to be. It left him feeling uneasy, prompting him to question her change in behavior. She fiddles with something: a small flask and a metal wire building a weird contraption around it. After some further observation he noticed the flask contains Energon, much to his surprise and concern.
He watches her for a few kliks trying to figure out what it is she is making before giving up and simply asking. She still doesn’t provide him with an answer and continues to ignore his presence, too focused on her task. He sighs and moves himself to more comfortably sit against the wall he propped himself up against. At this point, Shatterframe resigned himself to wait for Splitscreen to come out of whatever trance that has currently befallen her. He goes back to watching her servos work on the thing she is building. Surprisingly nimble and delicate claw tips bend and shape wires to form a cuboid or a cylinder? It’s too dark for Shatter to clearly see the only light source being their optics and the small Energon flask. She further bends short wires from each corner towards the center of the structure, placing the flask in the middle around it holding it in place. When she is done she checks over her strange design, testing its give. After she is seemingly satisfied, she puts it down in her lap with her second pair of arms already shuffling through her subspace in search for something. Intrigued, Shatter raises an optic ridge wondering what else she needs to finish whatever it is she is building. He neither comments on her behavior nor the morbidly weird apparatus she is currently creating.
He watches her as she is pulling a thin long metal box out of her subspace and opening it as she touches whatever lies inside and makes a soft crinkly sound. His Optics narrowed as he tries to place what object could make this kind of sound and would make sense to be used as a next step in the build. As Shatter is squinting harder, lost in his thought he hears more pronounced rustling. Some sort of paper he deduces as he catches Splitscreen now watching him shaking the paper back and forth as if she had noticed his struggle and wants to give him a hint. He rolls his optics scoffing and turns away in mock offense. Splitscreen simply continues with her craft placing the paper carefully over the wires attaching it with some sort of adhesive. With his attention back on the contraption, he returns to observing Splitscreen working, taping more pieces of paper over the structure while filling in the gaps. The paper now completely engulfs the wire structure safe for the underside, the small light of the Energon flask barely shining through its transparent paper walls.
“A lamp?”, he questions silently. His optical ridges furrow together confused, trying to think of reasons why Splitscreen would build a lamp. She holds out the cylinder shaped lamp thing towards Shatter for him to take, he hesitantly takes it in his servos, holding it and examining it closely as if to understand it. Splitscreen reaches with one servo to stop Shatter from turning the thing while using the other to click a lighter to life, holding it under the contraption. He witnesses as the paper walls slowly fluff out, the heat seemingly expanding it. Shatter notes that the whole contraption begins to feel lighter and when he lets go, it starts hovering in his servos. The corner they are sitting in is bathed in a warm glow while he watches the cylinder bounce between his servos. All too soon, the lighter clicks off and once again the darkness of the cargo bay returns.
