weird ask: would the boots n' bombs ship in this au be between the Arsonist and the Mechanic, or the Sergent and the Saboteur?

Personally, I think it would be between Arsonist and Mechanic, even if the name Boots n’ Bombs wouldn’t really fit. Since the mercenary swap versions have exchanged their roles—and therefore their classes—the ship names for the originals should change along with them.

You can simply say Arsonist × Mechanic, or go with the proposed nickname, Grease Fire. The same applies to the other ships as well.

(These names were suggested by people on the Discord.:D)

In this case, I think it’s up to the community to agree on ship names, since nothing is official and nothing has been officially established. That said, it would probably be better not to mix up the original versions with the swapped mercenaries, otherwise it’ll just get confusing.

Personally, the name of a ship doesn’t matter that much to me—it’ll always be character × character. And when it comes to Boots n’ Bombs, I just can’t separate it from Soldier and Demoman.
