gendertrem: when transfeminine IS one's gender rather than their gender modality
[pt: gendertrem: when transfeminine IS one's gender rather than their gender modality. end pt]
to go with gendertrasc! the term is just 'gender' + 'tr' and 'em' from 'transfeminine'.
i decided to just combine colors from a bunch of transmasculine flags — the one i typically use, the four-stripe flag, this sun-inspired flag, and the honeybee flag!
Instead of AU I call it timeline is because it don’t have a clear main purpose, but it’s mostly about future, so this timeline’s name is “the future is now”
When Josie Grace and Violet Friar-Matthews did the one thing you’re never supposed to do (hit the button), they never expected to end up where they did. Now, with limited time to fix it, they have to get back to where they’re supposed to be. All without saying one word to their parents.
aka the twins meets world mini fic that literally no one asked for but, here it is regardless.
Chapter: 1 ( prologue )
Word Count: 1.3k
a/n: so, as you guys might now, my wonder best friend maggie ( @friarlucas ) and i have been basically creating a sequel show to girl meets world, titled twins meets world, staring riley and lucas’ twin daughters, josie grace and violet. this is my contribution to this lovely world that we’ve created. it’s silly, while also bringing you a lil bit of angst, because well, you gotta have a lil bit of that in there. enjoy!

“Does this thing even work?”
“It looks like a toy. Did you bring us here to admire a toy, Minkus?”
“It definitely doesn’t look like it works.”
“It is not a toy and it definitely works.” Zeeks sounds frustrated and on edge and Josie Grace briefly wonders how much sleep he’s gotten in the last week. All week he had been coming to school with deeper and deeper bags under his eyes, the weird, far off look on his face evident to all of them that he was in the middle of a major project.
“Have you tried it yet?” Violet asks, sounding seemingly unimpressed. She had been skeptical when Zeeks had called them victoriously about an hour ago, practically screaming about what he had managed to create. But now that they were standing here, she was beginning to think they were being pranked.
“No, I have not.” Zeeks looks between them, sighing at the cocked eyebrow adorning Violet’s features and the crinkle in Josie Grace’s forehead. “But I turned it on last night, was able to do everything but actually operate it.”
Violet and Josie Grace exchanged a look, and they both knew the same thought was running through both of their heads. Twin telepathy and all that jazz. Zeeks groaned.
“Stop that! I know you guys are doing your weird twin telepathy thing and you know that makes me feel left out!” Zeeks exclaimed, causing the twins to laugh, Violet shaking her head softly.
“Sorry, sorry. Please, show us how your toy works.” Violet said, gesturing to the machine that was resting on the bed in front of them. Not bothering to argue, Zeeks merely shakes his head and knelt down, fiddling with some of the wiring.
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” Josie Grace asked, crossing her arms nervously over her chest. It’s not that she didn’t trust Zeeks, oh well actually that was exactly it. “This thing isn’t going to explode and kill all of us is it?”
“Don’t you two trust me at all?” Zeeks asked incredulously, dropping the wires in his and and standing to his feet. His hands are on his hips and Violet almost bursts out laughing at the sight. “What have I ever done to make you not trust me?”
“Do you want that list alphabetized or in chronological order?” Violet jokes, and Josie Grace bites back a smirk. “It’s not that we don’t trust you, Zeeks. It’s just that, this is really powerful stuff you’ve got going on here, are you sure you know how to handle it?”
There’s a genuine moment that passes between the three, with Zeeks licking his lips nervously, processing Violet’s question. A beat of silence hovers in the air before Zeeks nods, taking a step away from his bed.
“I need some water, I’ll be right back.” He says, pushing between them and exiting the room, the door falling closed behind him with a soft click. Violet sighs softly and Josie Grace has to resist the urge to reach over and smack her sister on the arm.
“Before you say anything, because I know you have something on the tip of your tongue, that wasn’t my fault.” Josie Grace eyes her sister, who merely shrugs her shoulders. “I think asking if he knew how to handle this was completely acceptable.”
“Okay, you’re probably right, but still. We probably could have been a little nicer. You know how much he cares about what you think of him.” Violet merely sighed, kneeling down on the floor where Zeeks had been only minutes ago.
“I wonder how you turn this thing on…”
“Violet! What are you doing?” Josie Grace exclaims, getting to her knees next to her sister. She throws a glance over her shoulder at the door, practically begging for Zeeks to re enter before Violet does something they’ll both regret. Unluckily for her, she can’t even hear Zeeks in the apartment and wonders where they hell he disappeared to, but she can only wonder for so long before she hears a triumph “a ha!” next to her. “What?”
“I’m pretty sure I got it to turn on.” Violet says, sending Josie Grace a smirk.
“What makes you think that we have any idea how to operate this thing. You were just giving Zeeks, who literally built this thing, a hard time, you can’t possibly have any idea what you’re doing.”
“Wow, JG, your confidence in me is overwhelming, please give me more.” Violet deadpans and Josie Grace rolls her eyes. “Alright, you’re right, I did give Zeeks a hard time, but I really think I understand how this thing works. What’s the harm in trying, right? There’s like a 99.9 percent it’s not going to work.”
“So what do you think is gonna happen when you turn it on? Some cool lights will turn on and it’ll maybe spin around, making a whirring sound.” Josie Grace says, swirling her finger around to emphasis her point.
“Yeah, that’s exactly what I expect to happen.”
“Okay, so what about that finicky .1 percent.”
“A non issue in my mind.” Violet says, now squinting her eyes at the little screen on the front of the machine. Josie Grace watches over her shoulder, a weird shiver going down her spine when she sees the little green dot that will seemingly put this machine into operation.
“Violet…” Josie Grace starts, but it’s too late, her sister already has her finger hovering over the button, a small smirk on her face as she locks eyes with her twin.
“Are you ready for absolutely nothing to happen?” There’s a weird pit in Josie Grace’s stomach, but she nods regardless, unable to say no to her sister.
The first thing she registers is the weightlessness. It only lasts a second before she’s thrown back to the ground.
“What the hell?” Violet mutters, rubbing the top of her head. Panic then floods her when she realizes something very very important. They are definitely not where they were five seconds ago.
“JG! Josie Grace Friar-Matthews!” She exclaims, slapping her sister, who is rubbing her own head as she sits up from her place on the floor. They lock eyes and they don’t need to use their twin telepathy to know that they’re both thinking the same thing.
Something has gone terribly wrong.
Josie Grace is the first to stand, surveying the room. It’s still a bedroom, but it’s definitely not Zeeks. None of his signature posters adorn the walls, not to mention that the entire room is pink, yep, definitely not Zeeks. Violet stays on the ground, shaking the device slightly in her hands, groaning in frustration when it refuses to turn back on.
There’s a weird pit in Josie Grace’s stomach as she wanders, but it isn’t until she makes her way halfway around that room that her weird nervousness turns into full blown panic.
“Um, Violet!” She manages to choke out, barely registering her sister standing up from the ground and joining her.
“What?” Violet mutters, clearly still investing in the device in her hand rather than the thing that has caused Josie Grace to go into a panic. Josie Grace can’t even find the words, so she instead just elbows Violet, willing her to figure it out on her own.
It takes a couple seconds but once Violet as let the object in her hand fall limp by her side, she realizes what has caused her sister to go silent and she too, feels a similar panic. Her and her sister have always had a knack for sharing feelings.
“Holy shit.”
It actually worked, the stupid little machine that now refuses to power back on, actually worked. Their little nerd genius friend, who has definitely set fire to his room at least twice in his lifetime, managed to build something that works.
But there’s only one problem. He’s not here and according to the kitten calendar that’s hanging on the wall in front of them, they still got about twenty years until he’s born.
The year is now 2015 and Josie Grace and Violet Friar-Matthews are stuck here.
