I can’t stop thinking about how John Walker, out of all the Thunderbolts, experienced the most colossal fall.

I mean, he was at the very top before everything came crashing down:

he had a phenomenal career (the most decorated soldier in history, the only recipient of three medals of honor) - he was dishonorably discharged and stripped of all his medals and benefits;

he had a reliable support system in the form of his best friend and wife, two people he loved more than life itself - his friend was murdered, and he and his wife are now divorced.

the people around him respected him, admired him, and sought his attention - now John feels only universal contempt, distrust, and hatred.

John Walker had it all, and then - nothing.

The story, which was supposed to be redemption in his eyes ("being Cap is the first time I've had the chance to do something that actually feels right"), only plunged him deeper into the abyss of guilt and new regrets.

How is that even logical? Its racist to call Bucky a victim now?

Whilst there undoubtedly are some Sam Fans who think Bucky was never a victim and *would* indeed say that its racist to even call him that- I think there's also a fundamental communication failure.

I've seen this scenario unfold many times. I've put thought into this and I believe what is happening is Sam Stans just don't understand what "victim-blaming" actually is.

When they see someone using the term "victim- blaming" they think we're saying Bucky is *still* a victim. Hence the "stop babying him!" response they always fall back on.

What we're actually saying is that he's being unjustly blamed for what happened *when he was a victim* not that he still is one.

However, they've also been totally brainwashed by toxic masculinity and the narrative of shows like TFatWS to think that Bucky "taking responsibility" for what he was forced to do under mind control is actually a *good* thing. Beneficial for him.

And since they also believe Sam is infallible, the idea that his "advice" might actually be a *bad* thing isn't one they're willing to entertain. Of course sice Sam's "advice" (and indeed the whole show) involved twisting the narrative to make Bucky a willing enabler of HYDRA rather than the victim they end up believing that as well.

Sharon being the Power Broker is not sexist because she's female and a villain. It's sexist because she is canonically a HERO. In the comics she's AGENT 13. They took the most important female character in the entire Captain America mythos and made her some b-grade villain. They rewrote her whole fucking backstory, robbed her of her character traits, achievements, and love interest, even her fucking screentime, and gave it to other people. Then when they didn't know what to do with her because the stole all she had, they made her a villain. THAT'S sexist.
