Trick or treat! 🎃✨
Hi hi hi, happy halloween! Since we share love for tgcf, I'll share a snippet from an angsty/hurt to eventual comfort(?) hualian/hua cheng-pov fic. I started it for all ships week but the idea got away from me so it's still unfinished 😅
The premise: Hua Cheng ends up in the past, back in Xianle era and, this time having his ghost king powers, he wants to ease Xie Lian's suffering whenever possible. In this snippet, he's watching the Shangyuan Heavenly Ceremonial Procession in his full 800+ year old glory, with full knowledge of what's about to happen.
He remembers it all even now, but doesn’t look toward the city wall to check if his past self is already there. It’s too far. What he does instead, is look at the tower his god will descend from any moment now.
There he is.
Xie Lian, dressed in heavy layers of the God-Pleasing Warrior’s robes, a well-crafted mask resting on his face, a sword at the ready, stands at the top of the tower, waiting, observing. The sun paints his silhouette in thick strokes of gold, favoured by the heavens yet still unnoticed by the mortals. He radiates divinity even now, mere seventeen years of age.
When he leaps, Hua Cheng’s heart seems to thrum in tune with the shouts of the crowd.
The god has descended. He fights the demon. The demon’s blade shoots out of its hand. The world is about to be saved.
A child falls, and Hua Cheng’s heart drops with it.
Time slows down.
For centuries, he’d believed this was the beginning of the Crowned Prince’s fall. A rescued child; a good deed rewarded with the curse of misfortune. For just a moment, his muscles tense up, intent to rush forward and reach his own self before he stains the pristine royal robes.
I wouldn’t have met His Highness if not for this.
He takes too long. The moment passes.
The child is caught.
Xianle is doomed.

ask box trick-or-treat (fic writer edition)
He had never felt so determined and so anxious at the same time in his entire existence.
Kissing his god has always been a sweet spring dream.
Zhang Linghe set to star as the main in not one but two costume dramas this year. Both coming out of iqiyi.
Speaking of iqiyi and Zhang Linghe, you know what else he has starred in?
Tian Guan Ci Fu's a little character named Hua Cheng 🥹🥹
So I am just saying if iqiyi decides to air drop TGCF in one swoop like I want tencent to do with HYX, I will be ready
The thing is that FengQing and Hua Cheng are going to know each other for centuries upon centuries, and they are going to be forced to hang out time and time again because Xie Lian. Eventually they WILL become friends, whether they like it or not, no matter how much they resist the inevitable.
Even they can't hold onto being haters for that long.
Donghua Hua Cheng snapped with that red eyeliner damn.
Jun Wu, to Xie Lian: Scimitar E’ming is a cursed blade of misfortune. Don’t touch it or let it injure you
Xie Lian: Okay
*The next day*
Xie Lian, petting E’ming: It’s so cute 🥺🥺
thinking about 14 year old hua cheng, young & mortal, knowing his god was strong & powerful & didn't need a mortal’s protection, yet still wanting to protect him; it was his only dream. but then later on having to watch as his god fell & the world broke his god down & burned down all his god’s temples, & he was powerless to do a thing
