Before I read THAHB, all I knew about it (besides the racism) was that it was about two kids, not from Earth, travelling to Narnia and that one of them suspected he was born there, which in my mind meant that, since there was no way that C.S. Lewis would make him the child of one of the Pevensies, he would have to be related to one of the Narnian creatures.
Cue me imagining this story about a half-human, half-dryad boy, going on a journey of self-discovery with two snarky horses and his warrior princess bestie. Which turned out to only be partially true.
Look, as much as I love Corin and Lune, I still really like the idea of Shasta being half-human, half-dryad, slowly discovering his nature-related powers as the book goes on.
