expanding a bit more but like everyone def assumed benson was more than a friend to randy cause what else could it mean when a man randys probably never mentioned to anyone shows up and is leading him around grabbing at him and being just possessive and standoffish

especially lisa randy didnt show any interest in dating her they probably did little more than pecks and then he shows up asking where he went wrong with a man who is giving you the look that he is his but its the early 2000s and that is taboo especially in a small southern town so you dont ask randy just make a small comment and randy is clearly hiding something and doesnt wanna bring that much attention to him and then drags him out of the store when he gets angry you guys are actually fixing things

you have the secretary at the school I mean benson is again all over him is charming and talking about them moving away together when its clear randy is def younger than him is nervous and this man is helping right wrongs before they are gone sounding like forever like they are running from a disapproving family but it makes sense no that randy boy somethings always been off about him ontop of the eye thing

and miss beard who picks up on something going on between them but doesnt push it simply asking if benson is usually quiet which randy says no so to her it sounds like randy is around and knows this man well enough to know how he is but maybe they had a fight so she stays out of it doesnt ask how they meet or anything else because shes been around kids has her own can tell randy is already stressed and upset about the eye thing as they talk so she ignores the elephant in the room that is the strange man randy has around him cause its only when shes being held at gunpoint does she think she read the entire situation wrong but staying with them it's clear there is something .... especially at the diner.

oh for sure hes still a morally dubious queen. tho tbf to fitzjames, he and crozier stop doing any kinda coitus after fitzjames discovers hickey. and to be very uncharitable to fitzjames, its hard to tell whether that's because he thinks what crozier's doing is wrong, or whether, in a small and dark and ugly part of him, he is jealous of hickey.

Another brutally honest talk

*insert standard disclaimer about how this might sound weird af but I hope sharing might help someone out there*

One of the least appealing things about Christianity is that you’re supposed to love God above all else, and any other desire should be secondary.

I didn’t like that; not one bit. If there is an all-powerful God, and He’s the one who dragged me through all that Absolute Bull Shit after forcing me to exist, the only thing I was interested in is compensation.

So, thats what I told Him.

I said, God, I don’t want you. I want you to give me Certain Things. Tell me what I need to do for you to give me what I’m asking for, and I’ll do it. Also, even if I don’t do what you tell me to, you should still give me what I want, just because you can.

There was no ‘please’ or ‘thank you.’

At this point, I knew God is real and that He is who He says He is; honest, good, and loving. The evidence was undeniable, but it never applied to me. In my mind, I was the ultimate victim, and entitled to my entitlement, because He was good to everyone except me and He rubbed it in my face constantly. I could not even consider loving Him, but He doesn’t need my love the same way I need Stuff from him.

Idk how but it ended up like the plot of a cliche chick flick. The kind where the sleazy guy dates some girl to win a bet, then ends up falling in love for real. And yes, in this scenario I’m the sleazy guy, except the girl knew the guy would catch feelings even before he did. It’s the ultimate uno reverse card.

Basically, it is possible to love God for His own sake, because he is the embodiment of love, truth, joy, peace, and everything that makes life good. But you don’t have to force yourself to love Him; no matter how it starts out, this relationship is a joy, not an obligation or a means to an end.

As long as you’re honest with Him (which is for your own benefit; he already knows the truth before you do) He’ll work the rest out in your favor. The most important part is to have a relationship in the first place. Even a hostile or transactional mentality gives you something to work with, which is infinitely better than having no relationship at all.
