❤: who is more affectionate in public? in private?

while i think he’s protective in public, i think thanos is NOT AT ALL affectionate when surrounded by others. after all, he has a reputation to uphold as a big bad scary looking dude, and holding hands with a cute american girl like nancy doesn’t exactly enhance that… i don’t think nancy would be the type to instigate pda with thanos in public either, just because i honestly am having trouble even wrapping my mind around those images (like seriously has thanos ever so much as hugged somebody in his entire life, the answer is indubitably no), but let’s be real here: this is WILDLY different when they’re alone. i bet thanos is actual a big cuddler-in-bed (just name him President of the Big Spoons now) because it allows him to feel that nancy is safe and secure in his arms, plus i bet he likes the warmth and human contact that, although he would never ask for it outrighly, he definitely enjoys like the rest of the human race. i can absolutely see him pulling nancy on his lap during a movie night or holding onto her thigh under the dinner table JUST BECAUSE. it calms him to touch her and know she’s there.

10000000% thanos. lie is literally just one giant failed attempt of thanos to flirt with nancy (although he would never ever even ENTERTAIN the idea of calling it a “““““crush”””””). see it as you will, but i was convinced of him caring for her (or, at the very least, being fascinated by her and curious to know what she was capable of) the moment it became clear that he wasn’t interested in passing word of her over to kronos. or how about when in the notes nancy finds at the end, xenia implies she’s basically going to silence nancy with whatever means necessary and literal mafia man thanos ganas discourages her from doing so. underneath all that grecian costume armor is a rager that did not relent the entire game.

In terms of thanos x Nancy, how do you think they end up getting together? Like who initiates

oh boy, i was LITERALLY JUST TALKING ABOUT THIS A FEW DAYS AGO

as a matter of fact teamdoofus and i were kind of chuckling over how this is a major hurdle to overcome while writing fics for these two, mostly because it’s hard to imagine either of them initiating things: thanos on an emotional level, and nancy on a moral level.

ultimately, i don’t think it would be nancy, even if thanos were to somehow super reform himself and become a model citizen who has renounced the mafia for some bizarre reason. dating a suspect, present or past, is probably a big no-no for nancy, and thanos takes it one step further by being a proven criminal. i can very realistically see nancy never, ever asking thanos out, or anybody close to thanos, or anyone else she’s ever been on a case with either.

now for thanos, i think pride definitely plays a part here. i don’t think he’d ever ask out the girl who took down his art heist gang unless he was doing it as a subtle revenge plot, and then there’s the issue that i can’t actually see thanos asking anyone out at all, probably because he seems a little romance-deaf (that’s okay, nancy is too). his idea of flirting is probably buying someone a drink, grabbing someone’s thigh, and then fucking them against a wall somewhere, and he’s probably very pleased with that. i mean. anything beyond that, my brain can’t even wrap itself around the concept without laughing. imagine thanos in a fancy restaurant in a suit wearing a napkin as a bib. imagine thanos in a movie theater sharing popcorn. no. NO. it just does not compute.

so those are the mental obstacles that i mostly have with how nancy and thanos would begin (don’t get me wrong, i fucking ADORE this ship). thanos seems like a very no-strings-attached man—and yes, i definitely thinks he wants to sleep with nancy—but the circumstances would have to be CRAZY for nancy to agree to sleep with thanos. ultimately i think thanos is the one who would end up initiating, though, just because nancy… wouldn’t. whatever the reason might be, whether it’s ned, suspicion of thanos, personal principles, what have you, i think it would fall upon him to do it, although it would never be the traditional “will you date me” conversation.

but in regards to your question as to how i could see them getting together, here are some options i’ve considered:

the idea i brushed over earlier: thanos decides to seduce nancy to get revenge, pretending to be on her side, pretending to have information she might want for a case, and soon realizes that this was a mistake because nancy is just as shrewd and clever and challenging as he remembers, and oops, he’s just fascinated with her now and can’t quit until he has her

circumstances dictate that they MUST work together. i’d actually LOVE for something like this to happen in a future game (although i know perfectly well it never will, rip), because we already know that thanos essentially protected her from kronos or at least didn’t pass word of her to them (i talk extensively about him protecting her throughout all of lie here because i can never help myself) and i could so easily see a situation in which he can’t help BUT protect her, even though nancy doesn’t understand why, and he doesn’t understand why all that well either, and this leads to a begruding alliance which then leads to thanos essentially showing rather than telling that he cares about her

thanos is injured in some way, shape, or form, and nancy takes it upon herself to help (think dragging scott into the springhouse to save his life) and ends up, during the care process, learning more about thanos and growing a bit fond of him

and if worst (or best, depending on who you ask) comes to worst, they could always get drunk, happen upon each other in a foreign city but not recognize each other, do the deed, wake up naked together, and then have to deal with the consequences. that could be so delicious and SO FUN
